Whilst on the non-McDonalds topic.. I went to Five Guys after having several people I knew through work banging on about it. I left underwhelmed and lighter of wallet, wondering what a £30+ fuss was about for 2 pretty average burgers and chips!
The best thing about McD is it’s consistency. It delivers exactly the same thing every time. When I fancy one, I get exactly what I wanted, just as I imagined it and I’m delighted. When I don’t really fancy one but need some food (finishing work in the middle of the night etc), I’m usually disappointed.
Five Guys - two double burgers, a single burger, large fries, a refill soda and a milkshake. THIRTY EIGHT FUR KING QUID! Tasty though, I do like a good burger.
Balanced by hacking McD via the app - double cheese with added lettuce, onion and mayo gets you a virtual Big Mac for £1.59
Five Guys is good but the cost is insane. No way is it worth the money.
This is the "Half-Pounder Big Mac" to which I referred earlier. Yummy!
( Caution, sad post content)
I’ve often wanted to do some analysis on McDonalds offerings, to work out the best cost benefit option, is it better value to buy 2 cheeseburgers at £1.49 each or one qtr plunder at £3.00 ( or whatever it costs)
So work out price per gram of each burger and play around with the quantities.
Same with fries, is buying 2 small fries a better option than 1 large.
Can’t be arsed to do it though.
Cheers..

You might get lucky and find someone willing to do it in the UK but chances are slim at the moment with limited menu and reduced staff.
I had my first Double Big Mac today and just for the Dirty Takeaway Thread on Pistonheads took this photo as I knew it'd wind them up..

I usually like a McDonalds every now and again, due to the last lockdown didn’t have one for about 6 months and when I eventually visited I left half the burger - I found it really unpleasant tbh, and genuinely doubt I’ll return unless it’s the only option on a very long journey!
I have a 4 year old, McD's is a weekly event, she loves it, whenever i've had something they're fine, chicken nuggets are decent enough, cheeseburger the same, nothing fancy, it's fast food and tastes ok, i tend to find people complain about McDonalds when they put it up against home made stuff, or gourmet style burgers, which is something McD's never claims to be, it's for those who want to not cook or wash dishes one evening, or treat the kids, or have a quick and dirty meal on the way to somewhere.
Whips out the app!
Double cheese £1.59 / 445kcal = 0.357 ppk
Quarter cheese is £3.19 / 518kcal = 0.616ppk
Big Mac £3.19 / 508kcal = 0.627ppk
Get the doubles!
I'll leave the fries for someone else to discover
Edit as a slow night:
Five Guys
Bacon Cheese £8.95 / c.870 kcal = 1.028ppk !!

I am sure the current and future morbidly obese will love it.

This is interesting viewing for a UK/US comparison.. As one comment puts it:
UK Fries: Oil, salt and potatoes
US Fries: The entire periodic table
Very interesting. Almost a litre of soft drink, wow!

An interesting comparison.
In most US McD's, Burger King etc etc you just buy an empty medium cup and get unlimited refills.
I had a couple of decent size Mcflurrys in the US and when they came out over here I thought I'd have one for old times sake - it was about the size of an egg cup!
Cheers,
Neil.
I like your research, but you have a very limited sample size there. Analysing the full beef based burger choices gives the following
Double Big Mac £4.09 694kcal = 0.589ppk
Double QP £4.09 750kcal = 0.545ppk
Big Mac £3.09 508kcal = 0.608ppk
QP £3.09 518kcal = 0.597ppk
Triple CB £2.19 588kcal = 0.372ppk
Bacon Double CB £1.99 495kcal = 0.402ppk
Double CB £1.59 445kcal = 0.357ppk
CB £0.99 301kcal = 0.329ppk
Hamburger £0.89 250kcal = 0.356ppk
Therefore, it's the humble Cheeseburger that is where it's at.
For fries
Small £0.99 237kcal = 0.418ppk
Medium £1.19 337kcal = 0.353ppk
Large £1.49 444kcal = 0.336ppk
Go large
I finally answered my own question by calling at my local McDonald’s yesterday!
My verdict: I loved it. Much smaller than the image would suggest but a nice mix of meat and bun. I don’t like cheese so I knocked a few hundred calories off the thousands I ingested as part of the overall meal by omitting it.
I think I’ll have another before the year is out.
