Rolex AD. Is there any truth...

That at any given time the ADs have at least 2 Rolex watches of every sought after model in their safe. And they will hold on to it until new stock arrives or release it only if a valuable customer seeks it.

In other words, it’s not like hens teeth. There is always stock available.

It's 2020.l, walk in and say you identify as a high value customer and take two of everything you want. That's what I do.

Indeed they have at least 3 of every model just sat in the safe that they don’t sell, after all it’s not like they are in the business of selling stuff is it 😂

Of course it is true, along with fragments of the true cross, the holy grail, and Trump’s concession speech.

Going to have to try your technique, mine is clearly failing!

No it isn't true but passing through Paris CDG a while back the AD did admit they had all the popular models in the safe to be bundled with PM peices.

I've got several AD friends, definitely some truth in that.

While browsing in an AD last year one of the staff lifted a drawer from beneath a sales counter which had in it 40-50 Rolexes in their ‘coffin’ transit boxes. He then noticed me and said “you didn’t see that!”. Probably mostly Datejusts but still an eye opener.

    Oh much more than 2.
You have to figure out the magic sequence of words to release one from the safe LOL

    Naa sorry, it’s absolute rubbish.

I blame Russian interference. There's plenty of stock but the Russians. Oh, those pesky Russians...

Yeah, they sell them off to the grey market at inflated prices, export them direct to (insert despotic regime of choice here), flog the to their mates.

    No it's not true.

I think lots of other thing are true, like the pressure AD's are under to flog the less loved models.

There are so many Rolex, that they have to pretend there is a shortage, otherwise the price will plummet.

    Dear Xelor,

Yes, I see what you did with your forum name there, very clever. I feel that the nice folks over at this forum may be able to address your interests more fully, assuming of course you're not already a member.

    All the best

The have loads in the safe.

However they follow MickP's mantra on never selling a Rolex

Goldsmiths offered me all the GMTs, a Skydwelller, a green DayDate and a ceramic Daytona all at a 25% discount, but they had a Tag I preferred so I didn’t bother.

I hope I bought the right Tag
