    Demagnetising?

How fast would a watch be running for you to consider demagnetising it?

Depends if I could catch it ? :)

Sorry, gaining minutes rather than seconds per day.

I was about to say, five minutes a day?

I bought a cheap Chinese demagnetiser from Ali Express, and it worked a treat to demagnetise my Panerai.

It doesn't have to be running fast at all. I demag all incoming watches to make sure I'm getting their true readings, for instance.

Jocke - can you provide the type of demagnetising device you are using. There were no comments in YT video. Thanks much,

Our of interest, how much is cheap? Also, is there any risk of causing damage using a demagnetiser?

There's a risk of magnetising an unmagnetised watch with a coil type demagnetiser.

Recently noticed that my previously very accurate (+/- 5sec a day) Speedbird GMT was gaining 30-40 seconds a day. Having handled some very strong magnets at work I thought I'd dig out my cheap Anchor demagnetiser and give it a go. Instantly back to -6 sec/day on the timegrapher.

So, to answer the original question, about 30 seconds faster was enough for me to give it a go.

Yeah, mine looks just like that. It arrived from China now working, but I replaced the two-pin plug with a UK three pin, and that did it! I've not used it since, but it's good to know I've got it handly.
