Hey folks,
I love the look of the old Glycine airman style watches, but was wondering if you guys have any other suggestions for a 24hr watch?
I've found some rather suspect 'NOS' Raketa watches on eBay, but would prefer something decent and legitimate!

They're pretty unusual. Doesn't help that a '24 hour dial' is taken by some manufacturers to mean that there's a 24hr indicator on the watch, rather than it being what we're referring to!
Vostok do one, and the only other I can think of is a single hand watch.
I went for a Glycine, the DC-4 Purist.
Botta Design do some nice 24-hour watches, if you're ok with quartz. I like the Tres 24 in particular.
As mentioned before, I would suggest the Russian way. The Komandirskie (ref. num. 650541) is a good choice. Also the Sturmanskie. There are a few of them... I like the Arctic model (ref. num. 2431/6821341) with plenty of color choices. Inside of them is the Vostok 2431.

I have a Seiko levante, very nice watches.
True 24 hours watches are not that common
There are a number of Russian examples out there by Vostok, Raketa etc.
One example I am looking for is a Fortis, its very clear and easy to read.
My 'Grail' is a vintage Cosmonaute
Alexander Shorokhoff does a few quirky ones if you're adventurous with your wrist wear.
Eg...
Breitling also (I think they still do) make a couple of 24 hour pieces.

I have two extremes of 24 hour watches
1967 Breitling Cosmonaute
and a recently acquired Kommandirski 030935, which for £81 I think is absolutely stunning.
Both are wonderful in my view, but for the money the Kommandirski is amazing!

Makes for a much smaller scale font and therefore a bit harder to read.
It would take me ages to stop reading the dial as a 12-hour, but would adjust eventually.

This is a fun thread. Here’s my Vostok Amphibia SE from Meranom, slightly modded. I got this in 2016, but more recently they’ve offered updated versions, including white dials. The Tissot is unusual with midnight at the bottom (I suppose it tracks the sun, so midday the sun at overhead?)

I have a Botta Uno, of which I love the single hand design... but is absolutely useless to tell the time with.

The Tissot up there ^^^ is nice. I have a liking for world timers with the major cities around the bezel - i`m sure that watch i had when i was 14 had that feature - the one where i put a compass needle through the movement attempting to take the back off...
The Cosmonaute is the daddy.

The Breitling is a total surprise! I had no idea they had a 24hr watch. A bit out of my range at present, but totally stunning.
The Tissot looks amazing and is quite a bit more affordable.
I've been quite hesitant about buying one of the £50 - £150 russian ones because my tastes are weighted towards vintage and you just can't tell whats genuine these days. Maybe I should just go for one of the modern ones like Vostok, Raketa or Kommandirski and enjoy it.
Whenever I bite the bullet, I'll update the thread :)

I think one of the Raketas was my first purchase from SC.
However this is the only one now - swapped with deerworrier for a Sinn - something I've never regretted.
I have a spare bezel for it somewhere - I must get around to brushing that and getting it fitted.
In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.
This is how all 24 hour dials should be. I don't know how or why the 24 traditionally ended up on top... it makes no physical or actual sense. Lovely watch by the way. Treasure it.Great thread, I love 24hr watches.

Sorry for the thread resurrection but I dug my Airman out of the safe yesterday for the first wear in ages (possibly this year) it’s been on my wrist all day and I am reminded why I bought it in the first place. It’s such a cool watch.
Next to it sat the 24hr 903 so I thought take a quick snap of them both.
I do like the 24hr hrs dial format. It’s a shame more watch companies don’t do one.
