I do however like the omega better. But I wanted to buy new.
The 2254 is a stone-cold classic but there’s something to be said about picking up a 1-2 yr old aqua racer at half the price of the omega.
Very similar looks, available parts, fewer concerns regarding provenance and care...

Cracking watch and looks to be very good condition, well done. I'm sure you'll enjoy wearing that. The slimmer models are much nicer to wear than the co-axial imo.

Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Thanks. It's been on my want list for many years and I'm delighted to get one in good condition. As you say, it is very comfortable. :)

Just for anyone's info. If you are considering fitting an adjustable clasp then I found this thread very useful:

There's a lot of rubbish on it but if you sift through it you will find the info you need. Especially towards the end. I have now collected all the parts required and will be doing the mod when I get a chance.

That's an expensive mod these days, Omega have increased their price of parts like this dramatically over the past year or two. Save yourself a ton of money and clasp bulk by trying an additional half link, you'll be amazed the difference it can make to sizing the bracelet.

Thanks. I've tried a half link but it was no good. The bracelet fitted fine when I first got it but now I find I can't get a good fit as my wrist expands and contracts throughout the day.

Not sure if you fully understood or not the OP is suggesting a 2nd 1/2 link

Which can also be done by taking out the first half link and adding back a full link?
Unless they are not actually half in size or the articulation makes a difference for some reason?

Yes, they are referred to as half links but.are bigger than half a link - so you can add 2 (& take out a whole link if necessary) to fine adjust your bracelet further.

Thanks but one can only fine tune so far due to wrist expansion/contraction. One of the best features of the bracelet on my Submariner is the glidlock clasp.

In this case 2 halves do not make a whole

I'm not really a fan of nato straps but decided to fit one while I am sorting the adjustable clasp for the bracelet. It seems to go rather well, I thought. The strap is the original from my CWC SBS.

They look good on NATOs. Mine has been on an Admiralty Grey Phoenix, a grey Bark & Jack & currently a Bark & Jack in my regimental colours.
The quality of the B&J straps is very good indeed. The Phoenix is (for me) the better fit.

I had the same fitting issue with my PO and was looking at the expensive route of buying the more adjustable clasp.

I got a second half link and was lucky the problem was solved.

Bezel inserts get marked a damaged and they’re not available separately, the whole bezel has to be replaced. The bezel itself often gets scratched and battered around the edges, refinishing tends to leave the edges rounded which doesn’t look good. Hands and dials don’t deteriorate although the red tip of the seconds hand can fade with age. Screw- down crowns can give problems but the pendant tube isn’t too difficult to replace if the correct tool ( and heat) is used. Crystals don’t give problems but are expensive to replace.

As previously mentioned the bracelets and clasps do wear, refinishing is usually feasible but that won’t fix the stretch problem on a poor one and replacement is the answer.

A poor example, needing a new bracelet, bezel, complete refinish and service will cost around £1200 to put right.........buy with care!
Agree about the bezel, it's a bit of a scratch magnet but at least Omega won't "insist" on replacing it if it has the odd small ding.

    Hi
I thought I would give an update to fitting the micro adjustable clasp. I'm delighted with it. It has made the bracelet so much more comfortable.
The downsides are that it is fractionally wider than the original and you lose the 'Seamaster Professional' script. However, the ability to adjust it easily throughout the day far outweighs this, in my opinion. The extra bulk is negligable. I left the half link in on the twelve o'clock side so as to allow the clasp to sit in just the right position in the centre adjustment. I'm very pleased with the outcome. Apologies for not having the screw heads lined up. :)
