They spoke highly of you.
They spoke highly of you.
That's a bit disappointing, I was just going to start a thread about McQueen's TR6C Trophy 'Desert Sled' and how it probably represents better value that is more representative of the man.
Great Post

Ive got a really itchy bit on my back and I cant reach it.
I agree. Tired of all these watches named after famous dead people.
Anyway, here's Jim Clark and his Enicar Sherpa Graph
Another really nice Rickman Metisse.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
Did somebody say Nina Rindt?
The same Metisse in fact, shot at the same time as the other photo, in the same studio lot. Steve is wearing the same shirt and shades, and even the Mustang and Beetle parked in front of the door in the background are the same.
Mind you, any Metisse is worth repeating.

Funniest "Steve McQueen watch" is the Explorer II 1655.
He never wore one.
He never owned one.
Still it's called "Steve McQueen Explorer II".
Some great replies. There have only been about six articles referencing Newman and McQueen since my first post
Pointless thread. If you’re sick of them don’t read the posts/articles on them simples.

Doesn't really bother me, both are sort of brand ambassadors for vintage Rolex as they were noted for regularly wearing them. I had a 5512 and the fact that Steve McQueen wore one was great, same watch as the king of cool.
Interestingly, a McQueen 5512 sold at auction for $250k whilst the Newman Daytona fetched $18m or something like that. Both watches had family provenence so the market clearly prefers Newman out of the two.

Both were lizards and never wore jeans with razor slashed knees.
I hate Batman and Batgirl. Fictitious.
For those unable to take the thread with a pinch of humour, allow me to provide an example of why this particular fascination of the watch media annoys me so.
Watchville is an aggregator which takes watch news from a bunch of different sources around the web - most of it good reading of course. But in the last two days there have been four articles about this duo (and one indirect).
Call it what you like, but after reading about watches for years now, seeing the same things come up again and again leaves me wondering how much exactly that can be written about them (the irony of this thread not being lost)
I’m glad some of you can see the point I’m making, realise that you can’t avoid things which annoy you (you’ve got to see them first?!) rather than think for some reason that I’m posting - ‘bumping’ this for some other reason which I can’t possibly imagine.

Ped gets it, look how much he doesn't care.
Clearly I do care, hence thread - not sure what your function is though
