I'd use at the very least least 25mm exterior ply, maybe even 2 thicknesses of 18mm bonded with one of the moisture activated timber adhesivesnice and rigid and decent weight will stop it "walking" too easily
Anyone ever considered / done the conversion of an ± 75cm high office table into a ±100cm high workbench?
At first I thought about raising the legs, but now, on second thought, I'm thinking of raising the worktop: screwing beams on the original worktop + a new plywood worktop. The space between the two worktops can be filled with drawers.
Any experience or tips?

A table is a table. A workbench is a workbench. If you are going to do any sort of "heavy" work on it, just buy a workbench that suits the work. It will be far cheaper in the end.
