It had better be a very well-polished coffin. Borne by the Milk Marketing Board.

I was down all day yesterday (mainly drudgery of the weather I thought) for some reason but oddly and coincidentally spent the last few days reading alot about the 6538, the 5508 subs and mainly mulling over his watches in Dr No, Golgfinger etc.

Absolutely saddened to hear about his passing. A great innings at 90 and as much as we can all say he had a great life and lived that long it's kind of a end of era for those original bond fans. Sir Roger Moore now Sean Connery. I doubt I'll feel the same over Daniel Craig or even Dalton or Brosnan.

    RIP.

    Sad to hear this.

Whenever I read the James Bond books, it is always his face and character that I visualise in my mind's eye.

    A true great.

The best Bond, and only he could have from the beginning kept the franchise going. Anyone else at the beginning it would have been one or two films then that's it. I'm very saddened to hear about his passing. RIP Sean.

Rags to riches. He carried his fame well. And didn't seek to cash in on his fame. What would Rolex or Omega have offered him to be a brand ambassador? A Walther and a DB5 whilst dressed for dinner. The perfect Bond

Larger than life and Best Bond Ever!

Proud to have been sworn at by Mr Connery, when as a teenager I unwittingly disturbed his game of golf

I always chuckle when I think of that conversation about Connery between Max and Paddy in Phoenix Nights.

Very sad news but not really unexpected given his recently reported frailty.
Growing up I would watch any Sean Connery film that was shown on TV (yes even Zardoz).

His Bond was definitive as others mention but he’s made so many great films including one if my all time favourites, Highlander. What I always thought was cool was that it made no difference if he was playing a Russian submarine captain, Irish law enforcer or Egyptian immortal, the accent remained the same.

    A true legend, RIP.

    Cheers
    Neil

Sean and the great scripts made Bond and is the reason it is such a well liked franchise.

90 is a great innings and to slip away in your sleep is good way to go.

I think we all have fond memories of watching him on tv on a Sunday, will be missed.

Sean Connery and Honor Blackman died in the same year. I didn't realise that their birthdays were just a few days apart in August also. Hopefully they will dedicate a re-run of Goldfinger to them both and Margaret Nolan who also died this year.

Played some great roles, and left some great films. Level with Craig as the best 2 Bonds IMO. Sadly missed.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

Who wants to live forever indeed - although, I did wonder if he would. Women desired him and men wanted to be him. A wonderful combination of strength, mystery, suaveness, humour, sex - the best Bond. A Scot amongst Scots, stayed true to his core, with a serious passion for golf and I think a love for the simple life. Another big part of my childhood has now passed. RIP big fella.

Really sad to hear this, mainly because his brother is a neighbour of my parents. His brother was doorstepped today by a scumbag reporter looking for a scoop. What else can you be expected to say when your brother has died?

A good innings at 90 years but sure sad to hear this news.
Tonight's Halloween movie will be on hold and think we'll go with 'The Rock' in homage...

A sad loss. One of the most memorable scenes was the fight in the train in From Russia With Love. Was gritty and seemed quite realistic compared to the usual staged film fights at the time. Was shocking really. My how times have changed. The Hill (1965) was another superb film with great acting.
Perhaps he is not really dead but is living a second life on a remote Japanese island (You Only Live Twice). :)
