I have this, which I really don't wear that often. It's a 1972 Geneve. I considered selling it during my great watch cull during lockdown but every time I got it out to photograph, I changed my mind and it went back into storage.

Having been round the collector's block a time or two, I returned to my original passion for vintage Omegas a few years ago. I`ve no interest whatsoever in tatty old examples and I`ve definitely no interest in scruffy old Speedmasters or siimiler. If a watch doesn`t look sharp I see no point in owning it, scruffy old watches just look sad and old to me. Correctly refinished examples with original dials in good-excellent condition are what appeals to me, but I`ll happily accept a watch with a refinished dial if it's been done properly.
I'm fortunate to own an extensive collection of watches that meet my criteria, I`ll post a few pics on here when I get the time.
Here's a couple for starters
Cal 752 day/date Dynamic (ca1970) with good original dial and hands. Case has been lightly refinished by me. I could write a buyers guide on these, I`ve owned a few and restored several.

Cal 564 Constellation, not a great photo, looks stunning in real life with all the correct facets and angles present on the case despite a thorough refinish by me. These take bloody ages to refinish correctly, the case sides and lugs have a brushed finish which is often lost over the years. Dial and hands are near-mint and original on this one, that's what attracted me to buy it. Possibly the second hand is a replacement, looks a tad short too me, but not grounds for replacement in my opinion. Understated class, it keeps time to within a couple of seconds/day and it keeps the water out. Previous owner is a forum legend who let me have this one at a v. fair price!
Another Constellation, a 564 C case (Ca 1967) with correct original bracelet, original dial and hands. Picked this one up in 2019 , gave it a dose of TLC and got it close to original condition with the correct finishes and contrasts on the case.
I`ll post a few gold ones when I get time, too busy at the moment with house restoration stuff.
I have this de ville which could do with a clean up and new strap.
I really like it I do wear it but not as much as should. I love the plots at 12 3 6 & 9 which are hard to see in the photo.
It has a gold case which is stamped but apart from that and the fact my photo doesn't do it justice I don't know much more about it.
In fact would anyone like to estimate its age?

This is a Franken with a case from the 30s and a movement, dial and hands from the 40s. It might not be “collector grade” but it is still beautiful and I enjoy wearing it very much.

Quick question. Is a seamster a dress watch? I know people wear it now as a dress watch but I had assumed that it was the sports watch of its time. Was it originally designed and sold as a dress watch or was that never really a distinction that people drew at the time?

You are right with your assumption , they did the Seamaster De ville which was the dress watch line .
The 30mm manual winds are obviously slimmer on your wrist , available in gold or gold plate and feel like a dress watch to me !
Thanks for the responses. I also want to clarify I wasn't trying to criticise anyone who has posted a seamster on this thread or suggest that they shouldn't have posted it as a dress watch. I was just interested to hear more about the background to this line of watches which I don't know much about.

There was a time that Omega seemed to put the word Seamaster on pretty much every model, even dress watches.
I certainly wouldn't class a modern Seamaster (dive watch) as a dress watch.
Maybe a dressmaker's watch?

When I joined the forum back in 2015, I wanted a vintage watch for my wedding. I was fortunate to get in touch with Paul Walker who sold me one of his collection (the 9kt gold Geneve). The blue dial Geneve was bought from a friends father... it’s a bit battered and the dial has some damage, but I liked it because it was slightly different. I then bought the Constellation from the forum; another one which Paul had serviced and recommended I buy and I have not been disappointed.
I really like these little watches. They are classic designs, keep great time and bring much enjoyment from what I regard to be a fair cost (roughly fifteen hundred quid). But what I like most is they all have a history - between the 4, hundreds of years in fact.

Glad you’re pleased with the Constellation Trev, when it came up for sale I was tempted to buy it myself. They are excellent watches and the prices are still relatively modest.

I`ve always liked gold watches, and the 60s Seamaster Deville is a classic. This is a 9ct version I tracked down a couple of years ago after searching a long time for a nice one at sensible money. Lots of 14ct rolled gold examples available in the States with no emblem on the back, they were v. popular as presentation watches in the 60s. The bracelet's not original to the watch, its one I`ve owned for years.
Here's a 1964 18ct pie-pan Constellation I bought from Mike Wood in 2009, an excellent example that's had a very easy life with little sign of wear. Much as I like this watch I think the pie-pan dials are over-rated, the hands are a bit small, but I can live with that. Doesn`t get much use, but I enjoy owning it. This one needs servicing and I`ll take the opportunity to clean the slight tarnish from the batons.....carefully!

When those came out they were only second to the Constellations with fine movements and often gold cases.
No realation to the cheaper Geneves that came out later in the '60's.

Just seen this thread and enjoyed the pictures so far.
I’ve had a good number of older omegas over the years. It is almost exactly 20 years ago that I first got interested in vintage watches and bought my first seamaster from eBay for £80.
I still have that one (silver dial automatic with gold hands) although rarely wear it these days. I remember being fascinated with the dome of the dial and the acrylic crystal and impressed by the caseback “medallion” embossing.
Will try to find some better pics - but here is a group shot of the ones I still have, along with their sportier siblings from a similar era. The pie pan is probably the favourite for dress-watch duties (on a black leather strap rather than the BoR) but the one I wear the most is the shimmering blue dial F300 constellation which balances vintage charm and a bit more robustness.

This was a wedding present for my father in 1972. I inherited it when he passed away earlier this year and had it restored. Don’t wear it much but make sure I put it on from time to time.
