I had a similar jacket and got my local dry cleaner to re-proof it. Not sure what they used but its more waterproof than ever
Only cost a few quid
Dear TZ font of all knowledge, can anyone recommend a waterproofing spray for a ventile cotton jacket? Non-staining etc.
(The jacket is actually already fairly water resistant...but met its match in 2 hours of heavy rain at football the other day!).
Thanks!

How about NikWax Cotton Proof as per www.ventile.co.uk/fabric?
nikwax i think its called
I have used NikWax and Grangers and they both alter the colour of the fabric slightly on cotton, so try a patch before 'splashing it all over', Brut style.
Thanks all - in true TZ fashion it appears I could have just googled it!

(not sure if my search will translate in the link, but just choose waterproofing, clothing and cotton, successively.)

Kirk the DWR’ durable water repellents sold commercially are fluorocarbon based and need heat to activate them. So if you are buying a Nikwax or Graingers product check the instructions, they often require a warm tumble dry to activate them.
