Removing DRM from iBooks and iTunes?????

So, having bought wifey a nice new Amazon Fire HD 10, it seems the books from the iPad/Mac won't transfer as they have a drm? On them, is there a simple way of removing this so I can put all her purchased books/music on the new tablet?

No simple way of doing it Mike - the DRM is to prevent piracy/copying. not an issue going from 1 Apple device to another, but Apple to Android is pretty difficult.

Yes, it seems a real pain chris, just reading up about it now, seems I might be able to convert iBooks to ePub, then ePub to a kindle format, not sure the cost of the software is going to be worth it.

really not sure why she can't just read real books like me!!!!!

The file format of ibooks is epub. The Amazon fire is a android device which uses the mobi file format. You can change from epub to mobi and remove the DRM with a program called Calibre.

    https://calibre-ebook.com/

    Calibre is free.

Calibre itself only converts file formats, it doesn’t remove DRM.

i also use calibre for managing my books and doing conversions to .mobi- it works fine and its pretty easy to use.

*theres a few DRM removal tools you can add to calibre

the link i posted has mulitple format solutions inc ibooks (section 10) , you need to convert the ibook to .pdf using a different program then you can convert it to .mobi if you need to.

*although i convert things and use calibre ive never needed to convert from ibooks so cant say whether the above works well or not (it is supposed to work fine)

** i get a lot of my reading material from here > https://b-ok.org/

To convert to PDF you first need to remove DRM.

None of this is of much use to the OP TBH unless someone has actually done what’s required. Converting formats with Calibre is easy (I’ve used it myself with mixed results), removing DRM is much more difficult.

if you read section 10 of my original link you will see it signposts you to a program that removes the DRM and converts it to .pdf
