    Wedding watch advice

Im getting married in December and my partner wants to buy me a watch

I would love a 36mm Rolex Explorer, but I'm not comfortable sending her out to buy a vintage watch for me

She wants to surprise me and i agred to give her a shortlist, so far i can can only think of a BB36.

As good as an alternative it is it very much feels like an homage to the Explorer

Any other idfeas? Budget of max £3k - want something that I can wear most days

If you want a 36mm Explorer go for it! Great watch. I sold a minter for £3k a few years ago but they are fetching more than that nowadays. BB36 is a good shout but have a look at the 36mm Datejusts too. They come in all different dials and bracelet types. The closest reference to the Explorer is probably the 16200.

Have a look at the Omega line up too. The Railmaster and Aqua Terra lines are similar in style to the Explorers.

Get to a few watch shops or watch fairs (assuming they are still going) and have a good browse of the forum if you haven't already.

Also consider the Rolex Oyster Perpetuals but they are now north of £3k so you'd need to go used. I'd recommend Miltons for used Rolex. The owner, Hayward, is a member here.

Thank you - in the middle of wedding organising so this is quite a nice little diversion

I like the 36mm OPs - will check out Miltons

Does it have to be from the Rolex family? The Omega Aqua Terra is very similar, a great watch for a great price.

i prefer a smaller (sub 40mm) case size - hence gravitating towards Rolex.

Aqua Terra is a good shout though - thanks!
