I have been using NCAP 5 Star cars since 2013 but i still assume in a crash i will get chopped in half, crushed or lose my head.

Im from rural Wales and have met ALOT of people who later died in car crashes or on a motorbike. Many of them in their 20`s.

Remember back in the early 80's seeing the aftermath of a Ford Capri II which had T boned a Cortina III estate trying to cross a 40 mph road; the B pillars of the Cortina were almost touching. Not sure if they survived as the emergency services had left when I came across the scene, apart for a solitary bobby directing the traffic.

Sheesh, that Comodore should have been called Accordion.

I remember driving into the side of a Renault Clio at 40mph in my 97 Honda Accord Aerodeck and being amazed at how well the crumple zone in my car worked to allow me to walk away and how bent out of straight the Clio was.

Wow, some staggering crunches in there!
Easy to bang on about modern cars being too heavy (and in some instances they are), but when so much of the additional weight prevents you being killed or maimed, it's a rather hollow argument.
Staggering at some of the relatively recent ones being absolutely crushed.

If ever there was an example of where AI could enhance our existence - I’m sure it would cone up with a super efficient safety cage around which designers could work

'Note: the VW T3 and Commodore were heavily loaded to test the facility.'

The above is in the comments immediately under the video.

It’s remarkable how fast the air bags deploy
