Right folks, asking again.
Laings can send my Breitling (a 30 year old Shark) back to Breitling for a service. That will be expensive and not sure how they will react to my after market replacement sapphire glass- originally it was mineral glass.
Hamilton & Inches can’t touch it, apparently.
Goodwin’s, on Rose Street, had a look and can’t fix it.
The problem is the stem attached to the crown is wobbly. Everything still works apart from hand winding.
So, any suggestions on getting a repair please, fellow folks of the ‘Burgh?
Thanks in anticipation,
D
Around five or six years ago Breitling UK had one person capable of working on vintage pieces. I know because I had a Transocean chrono from 1972 that required a service. It was with them for more than a year and the cost was just short of a grand. They didn’t even detail exactly what work had been carried out or returned any parts that had been replaced.
Back then I wasn’t really aware of the independent watch repairers who are members of this forum. I should have sent it to one of them. Don’t make my mistake.
