    Seiko SPB187

I've seen this Seiko mentioned on the forum and elsewhere on the 'net. I had a WhatsApp chat with a UK-based Seiko seller this afternoon. Looks promising for an announcement real soon.

I've seen €1,315 as the price online. Very high but looks a great watch. Hopefully discounts will be achievable as it looks really good from the pictures.

So essentially an MM200 with thicker bezel and MM300 hands? How the MM200 should have been all along. Nice!

I'm hoping this is as nice in the metal as I have agreed permission to spend from the Finance Department.

And shrunk down to a more reasonable 42mm!

Sadly, I’m not so sure about the colour choices. I’d like to see the bezels swapped between this and the SPB185. Apparently there’s an SPB205 which has a green dial too.

Just placed an order with a UK based Seiko dealer for this watch. ETA 1st December.

Because of the embargo, he wasn't able to send me pictures so we did a WhatsApp video and he showed me the two models (even though the picture quality wasn't the best). The 187 has a black bezel and blue dial. The other model is the SPB189 with a beige and black bezel and black dial.

It all seems a bit over the top for a Seiko but maybe that's just how things are now.

He asked me not to reveal their company name if I was posting on any forums.

I believe AMJ are now taking pre-orders on these for anyone interested.

First press write ups are out:

Not sure about the look of 185...

Hopefully the 187 works out better in different colours, failing that, I’ll hold off for a future edition

Thank you for the link. The 187 looks good to me.

I’m still undecided about the blue dial - looks very sunbursty, but hard to tell from the handful of photos so far. If it’s more of a Matt blue I’ll be all over it. Why did Fratello pick the 185 to review!

Just stumbled upon a video review - I’ve no idea what he is saying, but you get a good look at both of the watches

Thank you for posting. Going to say it.... they look lovely, maybe the lighting isn’t helping, but a bit too blingy for me.

Yeah I have the same concern - need to see them in person but not a possibility at the moment! Still haven’t managed to see the spb143 modern 62mas in the flesh yet and I’m struggling to decide which to go for

Yup, I’m going to reserve a little judgement as videos and photos can be misleading but between the sunburst blue dial on the 187 and the metal bezel insert on the 185, they’ve lost me.

I’m also not a fan of the red dot on the shovel seconds hand but that wouldn’t be a deal breaker!

I managed to capture a SPB143 this week & is amazing on the wrist - even better than images prortray.

Just had a call from the dealer (or my AD ) to say the watch is being sent out today. Hope to put some pictures and a mini review on here by Wednesday.

I'll look forward to that, OP - I have an order in for a 185, but no view on timings yet. I know folks are divided on the metal bezel, but I'm hoping it will be "good different" rather than "different and weird" in the metal. I've already got too many blue dialled divers...

I think the steel bezel has the look of a Tudor P01, which is no bad thing.

FYI these are currently 20% off with code at hillier jewellers.

Noticed it was posted about the SLA on the Black Friday thread, I checked and the code works on steel and black bezel variants of these. Unfortunately no sign of the spb143 which I have decided is the one for me

I contacted the dealer and they said they would price match if I sent them a screenshot. Went onto Hilliers website, used the discount code and got a refund of £212 back. Even sweeter!

Interested to hear your thoughts on this one. I’ve just picked up the SPB143 but am not feeling it at all in the flesh so think it’s going back. This was also on my radar so it’s just moved up by 1 in the pecking order!

I am very happy with it. It is a great size, not too big and not too small but feels very comfortable on. The brushed and shiny parts compliment each other. Dial is a sunburst blue but also fades into black, depending how the light falls on it.

    I'm a fan.

Sounds good - hoping to pop and see one somewhere once shops are open again
