Well this is going to annoy the folk who got cancellations through from Newsstand...

The email below came through this morning - what a mess!

Very annoying, especially as I was offered and accepted a refund from newsstand and went and ordered from hearst instead which still had stock. Then I woke up to the same email. Guess my dad will not be getting a copy!

That is damned annoying - they really have dicked us about. I've had nothing further from them comms-wise. Nor any refund.

Gilt dial Tudor BB for my cover, also received from Newsstand earlier today. I'd forgotten that I'd ordered it...

Loads of 'em in my local W H Smiths, various covers (Rolex, Tudor, Patek, Breitling) but I bought the vintage Speedie

As a Smiths fan I was delighted to see this advert for Bremont:

So far it basically looks like watch porn with a heavy dose of corporate sponsorship; they should have paid me £6 to take the thinly veiled advertising home.

Also, "The Big Watch Book"? Perhaps if you don't read many books then 165 pages in more or less A4 format is a "big book" but it's only an average sized novel in terms of volume; in terms of text it's a lot less. Makes me realise what good value forums like this are: an endless supply of decent pictures, lots of good (and some not so good) information and no money distorting the editorial line.

"The Large Magazine of Expensive And Mostly Not Very Interesting Watches" would be more accurate but I suppose I'll struggle though it :-)

    Rolex Cover!

Some nice articles and some nice shots of a wide range of watches.

Clearly all just a big advertorial but still nice

Having cancelled my order from Newsstand earlier this week when they told me they had none left in stock, I put an order in directly from Hearst. It was less expensive and has already been posted out to me - will look forward to seeing what cover I end up with!

    Happy reading, all.

Does anyone here read the Hodinkee magazine? Their latest issue is out, and although the quality is very good, they are comparatively quite expensive I think for a magazine (albeit a high end, very glossy one).

And then they go and f--- it up

Hillary did NOT wear a Rolex to the summit, he wore a . . . no, I've forgotten. The name's gone. It was on the tip of my tongue.

And then there's this guy. Now normally I'm well disposed towards the Dutch. I lived there for several years and I like the people. I'm also always glad to see youngsters getting interested in watches. But in this case I'll make an exception. He just sounds like a coked-up idiot.

Anyway, lots of copies at W H Smiths here. All the covers. Collect the full set!

Did he though? " I carried your watch to the summit" didn't say he wore it, or did he?

Yes, Hillary used the odd choice of verb "carried".

"Worn" is what Rolex said about the Smiths.

PS: Linocut - well done for not quoting my whole post, pics and all. That is a real bugbear of mine, especially when it is literally the very next comment! Thanks -- and others, take note! Forum etiquette 101.

I don’t think you will find one in the newsagents but good luck.

If the newsagents doesn’t have it, I can definitely recommend ordering directly from Hearst. Shipping is free; mine was dispatched quickly and arrived today with the Rolex cover. I’m looking forward to sitting down later and reading it properly. Thanks again for the tip, OP!

At last... Hearst came good today with a Sub cover.

Cancelled with Newsstand and let the money sit for a pre order for the next one.

I'd take your money back and spend it with Hearst next time. Newsstand made a holy mess of this.

Got handed a copy of it - patek philippe cover - yesterday. By, of all people, a spent grain collection lorry driver who is also of the family who owns the company. Whenever he comes to collect at our place we engage in some really decent chats, many of which involving our shared interest in watches. He was good enough to buy me a copy when he saw it.

Im enjoying it. But then I like watches - so itd be a bit odd if I didnt - dont give a damn which watch is on the cover... its a bloody magazine!

What I like is that, after a year spent on the forum basically just looking at repeat threads about the same rolex models, this mag reminds me that there are so many other amazing brands out there, In fact the rolex page in the "directory" section is rather meh...

Good to see a broader slice of this hobby.
