The YM40 on Oysterflex is a corker. Lovely watch.
Time for an update as there have been a few ins and outs. I have now settled on a steady 9 (not counting the odd Casio). I just have one left from my December 2019 hit list - perhaps that will show up by the end of this year. I had the Omega Apollo 8 SE and the Rolex YM on Oysterflex on the list. Both are now present.
In no particular order:
Omega X-33 MKII SE; Rolex LV 'Hulk'; VC Overseas 4500V "blue"
I let a few X33 go which I regretted, tried the latest MK3 but really wanted a MK2 again as I find it one of the most functional quartz and this one appears to have the 1660"C" TQ module as it is super accurate. The Hulk also I let slip a couple of times. I paid way over market for this but then its not leaving anytime soon - currently on a leather NATO - super comfy to wear. The VC - what can I say - one of the top tier class pieces - I feel honoured to own this one. Its on the rubber strap but equally at home on the super metal bracelet.
Zenith El Primero CP2 LE PuristPro 1 of 50; Omega Apollo 8 SE; Breitling 806 re-edition
I keep thinking of letting this Zenith go - but it has a pedigree movement and is super legible, now on Haveston strap makes it comfy to wear as well. The Omega - great looking piece but has ended up on SC but still with me! Looks great, performs beautifully, perhaps I need to give it time. The Breitling - at 39mm one of the smallest Navitimers out there - produced to the 806 original and so well - even to the hand painted numerals and plexiglass - only thing modern is the B01 based manual wind movement. I've lost count how many numbers there are on the dial.
Saving the best (IMHO) until last
Rolex 126655 (2020); Patek Philippe 5146J Annual Calendar (2006); Rolex Air-King-Date (from 1978)
Here is the recently picked up the Rose Gold YM and my favourite at the moment - so comfortable to wear with glidelock clasp meaning it can be adjusted exactly. The solid gold case is smooth and shiny - I guess I'll mark it at some point. Then there is my long standing Patek which will never leave me. Works perfectly - keeping excellent time and clasp still clips firmly into place. Finally the diminutive Air-King-Date at 35mm is a little small for my taste but will not be leaving the collection. Like the Patek the Air-King has sentimental value.
Finally a group shot. Here is the complete set:
Thanks for looking
Martyn.

The YM40 on Oysterflex is a corker. Lovely watch.
The ones that appeal to me, in no particular order: Zenith, Breitling and the Air-King. Actually I think the Air-King is the pick of the litter for me.
Lovely varied collection. Always thought your Patek is great.
A lovely bunch, Martyn. If I had to choose one, it would be the VC.
I think the Omega is the best looking of your middle trio, so perhaps providence it's still with you. The YM definitely adds a nice touch of balance. Finally, Hulk on black nato, not for me. But then how dull if we were all the same.
Awesome stuff!
My top picks would be the VC (of course!) and the YM.
Good variety. I'd swap that digital Omega out for one of the non-pictured Casio's personally if I was in your shoes, but other than that I like them
Great collection. Love the air king
Beautiful pieces!
Stunning collection Martyn and that front row in the bottom picture - wow!
Lovely collection like seeing the hulk on a nato for a change!

Blimey! Rolex YM is the pick of the bunch for me. Nice collection.
The Air King is an absolute stunner, and so is the VC 4500 Overseas which has become my grail of late.
Gorgeous collection pal
These are really nice. The air king, the x-33 and the navitimer I have particular soft spots for so it’s really interesting to see them in a collection.
Call me a philistine, but I'd go for the X33, a Gen 2 and with the "upgraded" movement. One day.
But overall such a superb collection - the YM is also a delight!
What a great collection. I think my favourite is the YM but I do love the PP and VC, and your Zenith is rather special too.
Very nice collection, very varied.
I especially like the VC, very classic sports watch.
Great collection, good to see the hulk on a NATO.

I always enjoy reading your SOTC posts to see how much it has changed from a previous update.😀
Ten years ago, but still a lovely collection.
Interesting that Rolex, Breitling and Omega have been constants, albeit different models (other than the AK).
I am now thinking that the concept of sentimental watches that will never be sold is a double edged sword. I have ended up with a few, covering stuff like watches bought to mark wedding of daughters, birth of children, significant anniversaries/birthdays and packing in work. I will keep them all, but if they had been bought at other times, I don’t think they would all have stuck.
On that basis would you still have the PP and AK if acquired in other circumstances?

That Air-King is lovely
I’d be interested to see how the VC wears on you. (You have similar wrist size to me)as I thought the AP offshore you had looked too big on so not sure how the VC compares as it’s on a wish list of mine.
Great set
Only found out a couple of days ago how much that model of PP is worth!!

These two are different: I bought the Patek Philippe 5146J myself and plan to never sell. The AK was my fathers and became mine after my mother gave it to me. I don’t think I would have bought it myself. I would probably go for a blue faced DJ instead with a more modern movement- the AK-D has no quickset date.
here is one. It doesn’t overhang wrist which is my main criteria
I've settled on a 5 piece
Omega 145.022 78
Rolex 16700 116520 14060
VC Overseas 4500

Such a beautiful watch, I've been doing all the usual review research of late, plenty of YouTube vids etc, I definitely see this watch in my future.
I have to ask, do you find the lack of hacking to be an annoyance or maybe not given the size of your current rotation?
Excellent collection, I like them all and all the previous ones too.
The YM really looks cool.

Beautiful collection. Not really familiar with that VC but its quality looks stunning. Been trying to resist that 806 re-edition but think I’ll have to give in now and find one - blast you!
Regards
Jon.
Fantastic collection! I love the YM. I am considering the white gold version.
It’s about as close to perfect a collection as I have seen. The Patek and Vacheron are my grail watches, and the Yachtmaster and Air King certainly are exquisite pieces. Great taste!

Great collection Martyn mate. That Air King date is the pick of the bunch for me - I have a real soft spot for Rolexes of that era (watches of that era in general tbh!)
Which size box did you get with the yacht master martyn, M or L?
