Two of my favourite Rolex’s for the very reason that they aren’t bling.

I’m relatively new to this forum, but constantly see the term ‘Rolex bubble’ come up again and again. I have grown up in the watch trade and known it all my life and Rolex is not a bubble, it has shown growth for many years due to clever marketing and specialist sales started by antiquorum back in the 90s.
An example of a watch bubble would be the madness around swatch watches in the late 80s and early 90s with specialist sales and unbelievable prices.

I did own a tulip once, but it died on me.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!

I think it was cheap. Some POS RM popped up on my Instagram this morning. Price? 300k!

I think there's plenty of room for appreciation in price if RMs are changing hands at that price

I think the "bubble" suggestion is based on massive price increases over the last 2-3 years. No-one is suggesting that prices haven't drifted up for a good few years before that. As someone also pointed out, in UK price terms, the impact of the strengthening CHF/GBP is a significant factor.

A dealer reportedly listing a new 41mm OP for £8,200 when you could but a steel Daytona for £9,500 2-3 years ago does look like a bubble to me.

My sub non date is sentimental to me for various reasons, if I was offered such a sum I’d not be able to get it off my wrist quickly enough.
