Can't believe an Online gambling company who prey on peoples addictions would have such little integrity.

BF made 156 Million last year...not bad

anyway as somebody put well ...."if the same software that supposedly cocked up this win also resulted in thousands of users losing bets / money would BF be as quick at fixing the mistake'?

I believe Casinos do this a lot; refuse to pay out on jackpots

The fact they offered to pay £30k, then £60k to settle speaks volumes.......

Did he win the money though, or was it transferred in error? It's not clear from the article.
If it was an error, it's like when a bank does it, it's not your money, you have to pay it back. If he won it, how did he do that with blackjack where its a double your money thing each hand (or 2.5x for blackjack), he'd of had to lay down £850k on a hand

I heard a interview with him, he won the jackpot on screen, he withdrew the money from the game pot to his online betting platform account, he phoned up to get it transferred to his normal account, the representative congratulated him on the win and said it would be done soon, a day went by and he was then told a win of this size was handled by a senior team, after a week I think it was he was told they were not paying out due to a glitch in the system and he has never had it explained what the glitch was and they just referred to the T and C.
    Cheers..

The article said it was an online slot machine.
Some of the jackpots run into millions as they are provided by a 3rd party.

So all BF, Paddy, Willy Hill customers can effectively play the same machine and add to the cumulative jackpot.

The error BF say is with the 3rd party rather than themselves. BF get the funds from the 3rd party all the pooled jackpot funds and then pass to the customer.

Well I think that’s how it operates.

I believe that each person should be responsible for their own lives. Not every casino player is addicted, just like not all alcoholics who drink alcohol. I sometimes play casino games on betsofa platform purely for fun and I can control it.

Point of fact he goes rogue in Superman III and starts drinking, flicking peanuts and smashing mirrors in the bar scene...so he's not that Super after all and why Batman/Bruce Wayne feels compelled to horde kryptonite at great expense, just in case the big alien galute starts having a bad day/ goes of the rails Bats for the win.

I agree with this entirely, it’s a slippery slope if we expect the state to protect us from our choices. Sure gambling can be destructive, but ocean sailing is pretty damn dangerous, head injuries related to Rugby. What should they stop us doing.

If we don’t have the information or even worse misinformation (tobacco companies promoting health benefits of smoking in the 30s) sure the government should correct this and then let us make our own choices.

I don’t agree with advertising gambling though. And sponsorship of football teams which children watch is crazy.

The population are capable of making their own decisions, some want to eat healthy and live to 100 by eating a plant based diet, others enjoy BBQ and junk but it’s their choice.

Some people enjoy risk, whether it be free climbing, gambling, sailing. But it should be their choice, not the states.

I was initially confused as to why ClarkKent registered in Jul 2020, has only made 2 posts and this second post resurrected a pretty old thread with a random comment.

Then I saw both his posts relate to threads about online gambling and both have links to the same online betting channel.

    Needs a ban.

Humans aren’t infallible, we make mistakes and sometimes need a wicket keeper.

Yes - always worth bearing in mind.

I completely agree with this. I think it’s important for the state to inform people, even offer a helping hand when they need. But it’s a dangerous road when they start banning things, thinking they know best. One of the biggest vices is alcoholism, but no one would advocate a new prohibition.

I don’t know anyone with a gambling addiction and I’m sure it’s grim for them and their family. But as much as some would like, life can get worse when people try to bubble wrap it for others
