    Dexter to return . . . .

After 8 years they are making a new series.

One of the best shows of the last 20 years!

Loved Dexter, got a bit formulaic towards the end but still one of my favourite shows.

However, MCH has had a poor career since and they DID leave it open... this was always coming. Why can't the Yanks let a good thing go??

Dexter was brilliant.....at least the first three or four series. It then dropped to merely very good right up until the end of Series 6. Series 7 was disappointing and Series 8 was pretty average with a really crap ending.
I hope a new series will be as good as the earlier Dexter’s and not as poor as the latter ones.

I think that the first three series were best, weren' t they? Is it series four where John Lithgow joins as a serial killer? This was where I ran out of steam.

I'm the same - second time around, I never bothered with the final two or three seasons.

Great news my favourite series ever I’d say!

Great news, named my dog after him, much to my wife’s distress...

It's a programme I watched all the way through, but felt a little uncomfortable at the same time... no doubt I'll watch the new series too.

I actually thought the ending was ok - but I don't want to spoil it for anybody. :)

I watched the first series then found it nosedived into formulaic repetitive drivel with very thin plot lines.
    One to avoid imo.

To be fair the books the series is based on followed a similar downward arc. The first 3 or so books were fantastic the remainder spiraled into weird nonsense that I eventually abandoned.

A great concept that ran for far too long and was spoiled as a consequence. Last season was really poor for me.

That said, I'd probably give a new season a go to see if they could recapture the old magic!

As other have said great series with a terrible final season (to be fair after season 4 it was a steady decline). When it was good it was some of the best TV around.

Interested to see what they do with this.

It jumped the shark in a big way after Debra found out that her brother was a serial killer psychopath, but the first few series were superb.

The ethical question marks were resolved a bit too neatly in the last series.

The finale was one of thew worst episodes ever - until the 2nd to last episode of Game Of Thrones, that is.

Think I read something about this new series being done by the person behind the first 4 seasons so should be good.

However will it be the same without Debs and co.

Though would not be surprised if Debs replaces Harry as the voice / ghost of reason
