Eddie, is the PRS29A going to return?

With so many watches on the roadmap, is the the Smith Military -the regular, not the AM- going to make a comeback anytime soon?

The movements are due to be delivered this month and I expect both the 29A and Air Ministry to be available in February/March.

Great - sorry just to clarify these are ETA’s, or are they Sellita’s?

Thanks for the info Eddie. I would say that the popularity of these 2 went way up after a few really great youtube reviews from Tim at Caseback watches and IDGuy, both of which were fantastic as were their review of the Navigator prototypes. I had the PRS-29a but always had a hard time gripping the crown when winding so I let it go and was wondering if the crown on the Navigator is easier to grip. It does look in the pictures and reviews to be a little larger making winding better but pictures can be deceiving. Thanks Eddie for all your hard work.

That's fantastic news - I've been longingly eyeing the the 29A for a while. Fingers on buzzers at 2.00pm, some time in the new year, then.......!

Any improvements planned for the PRS29A apart from the movement, like to the dial or hands?

I didn't think any improvements were needed.

I bought both versions of the PRS 29 when they were released and initially focused on the AM version. However having put the A on a canvas NATO it has become one of my favorite watches.

Most watches fall in and out of favor but not this one and it is one of the very very few watches that, to my eyes and taste, is perfect in shape, form and balance.

I second that Eddie, you can't improve what is already perfect.

It is a top watch. Here’’ is mine with the fixed bars and it is still one of my favourites.

+1 to that - they best of Eddie’s watches in my opinion.

It’s one of the few watches that I think belongs on a NATO....

Awesome watch. I really like that iteration of the PRS29, I think the dial looks better than the current version.

Some comparison shots in this thread:

I have owned both. The sapphire version feels more substantial and of a higher quality, but I think the MK1 is closer to an original W10 in feel (which is why I only have a MK1 now).

There are two A. An acrylic and a sapphire.

Fixed bars + plexi, the first one years ago was the real deal (bought one).

The new one aims to please more people.
Next one will have a date surely

I’d love for the Plexiglass and fixed bars to be an option again. One can only hope....

But how good would an acrylic 29A ‘Mk2’ be, especially with a bigger crown and the larger handset from the sapphire model... maybe even with a bit of ‘fake’ lume, divisive as that is.

I can’t believe it wouldn’t sell... plexi 29As go quickly on SC and elsewhere, do they not?

    Please Eddie!

I think that this combination should be available in the shop at all times, as it is the proverbial Smiths military. It was a slow seller because people at the time didn't quite understand. Now there is new understanding in the air.

Fantastic watches. I took delivery of a first generation PRS-29B with the extra 3mm and the higher domed sapphire. Not easy to find these days.

Reviving an old thread but with the same question in March 2022- is the PRS29A likely to return soon?
