I can see a new thread appearing on this forum imminently - when I realise I’m one of the few here who not only doesn’t have a large collection of branded Swiss ‘timepieces’ or a supercar collection, but also don’t own a massive motorhome! I await photos of men wearing captains hats at the wheel whilst flashing - hmmmmm - 2-tone Yachtmaster II’s I reckon?

There is a guy over on TRF who has one of these. If not that one then a very similar one. Also has a collection of £15k bicycles and some other high end hobbies. Makes my mate's transporter conversion look humble.
Decidedly cheap! Some of the US manufacturers like Prevost are $2M+ for a high-end spec. I recall once seeing a show about a guy who'd won like $200M in the US lottery who was just driving around aimlessly in one seeing the sights.
Personally I like the overland globetrotter ones made by the likes of Unicat, they start around half a mil. Anyone know the numbers for Saturday?
A family relative, now deceased, bought one of those converted coach motorhomes from the states (at a cost of something around $1million) about twenty years back and imported it. He then had a huge "hanger" built to house it.
It was used perhaps a handful of times because it was far to big for English country lanes, and few campsites would take it due to size and weight.
When he passed away a few years back his son finally managed to get it sold for £25k.
I think he did well.

I love the thought of him rocking up in that to 'Phyllis and Ernie's Farm Stay Camping' in the Peak District for a bank holiday weekend.
The united sound of every other camper on the site exclaiming 'what an a-hole' and 'WTF is that' as he drove on in anticipation of lighting his disposable BBQ and unpacking the B&Q white plastic garden chairs.

Or 3000 nights at a really good hotel.

a friend of mine had a huge American motor home just like this, it seemed like a great idea at the time, it was two feet longer than a coach, the only place he could park it was race tracks and motorway services, it ended up just sitting on his farm for a couple of years then he sold it.
Don't you need a Cat. C licence to drive something like that?

My friend in the States has one about that size pull out sides the lot it even has a American double fridge in the kitchen. He tows his Ram 500 pick up behind it, total MPG 6.5.

In fact, they're for completely different usage and both hugely expensive but I think the Yank Land Rover is particularly hugely expensive.

It isnt a choice over a luxury hotel or the plush motorhome,those who spend this sort of money can afford to do that too and probably do.
Hugely expensive toys & baubles are purchased because they can,and makes no dent in their bank account when buying at this sort of money.
Nick Burnham, he is a respected boating journalist and he likes his Rolex.
Boating is another interest of mine, I watch his Aquaholic youtube channel and read his articles, he comes across very well and I always enjoy his content.

They are stupidly overpriced! Targeting the wealthy yank 'toy' market is the only possible explanation as the base vehicle is a $50k pickup.
The same concept on a £120k MAN/Merc 18 tonne truck chassis comes in around £500k from the Euro manufacturers, and there's an Aussie one called EarthRoamer based on a £25k 7.5 tonne Isuzu chassis that costs around £200k all-in.

I knew him from his days at Princess Yachts and follow him on YT for his boating reports, but never knew he did other forms of transport. Really nice guy and also a member on here, but not a frequent poster.

Ralphy kindly dropped me a line and mentioned this thread, I feel humbled! :)
This motorhome was custom built by a friend of mine who makes bespoke motorhomes, it's the biggest he's ever created and I think it took about a year. He builds them in a small factory in South Devon. There are a couple of his smaller (but still impressive) motor homes on the channel.
This one wasn't built for going camping, I believe that it's most likely to be used as a support vehicle for the owner to use at motor race tacks and track days across UK and Europe. Nice way to travel, and to arrive!
Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it and sorry I've not been around too much, life has been absolutely crazy for the last few years, mostly with youtube.com/aquaholic and now with youtube.com/motaholic! Still into the watches, but having built a modest collection that I really like I'm pretty much sticking with them for now (including the ex Ralphy Rolex!). I could be very tempted by a black PVD Porsche Design Orfina Chronograph however!
