I am refurbishing an old quartz watch for my Dad. The plating has come off the crown so a new one would be nice. I measured the diameters of the crown head, the stem and the pendant tube. The stem is 0.8mm which for most places equates to Tap 11. However in the wonderful world of Cousins it equates to Tap 8. Which is a bit confusing. Have they gone and done their own thing, made a mistake or am I missing something?

The crown I subsequently ordered is a tad on the small side which is a bit annoying. A quick re-measure suggests that the stem may be 0.9mm. Before I place another order it would be good to know if I am doing anything wrong.
