Thread: Omega Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award

    Omega Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award

For those waiting for the Omega announcement I've just spotted it on the Omega website already:

    https://www.omegawatches.com/en-gb/w...31032425002001

Very nice indeed. Not cheap though!

Ouch! That's a touch pricy indeed.

    This thread needs the video....

    https://youtu.be/5TK3_pDtxz8

Can't afford it, but if I had the disposable income it would be mine! Love it.

I'd probably knacker the chrono from keep resetting it and watching it over and over.

I like it a lot but at £8,250 it’s nearly twice what I paid for my Ultraman and it’s not even a limited edition (although ‘limited production’ I would suspect)🤔

  5. #5
I do like that and it would make a great 50th birthday watch for me, not a limited edition either?

  6. #6
Not limited but does look nice and has few extra touches

Bloody awful, with a very gimmicky caseback. Terrible. £8250 as well!

Are grown men seriously going to pay a substantial amount of money to wear that monstrosity?

  9. #9
Shame about the price, but it looks very nice to me.

The previous model had a sterling silver enamel scene on the case back - not so sure this one is in silver.
It's just a matter of time...

    Yes.

I'd love one. I wonder how long before any appear second hand.

The case back Snoopy in the "module" reminds me of this kind of thing:

I like it. Could be my first Omega!

Would have been nice to have a limited edition to mark 50 years, but I guess as Omega does these days...

    Caseback is a bit mental.

Lovely design though. Great colour scheme.

Love it! I just registered an interest. I think the case back animation is so cool!

I think it looks great. I'd like a more in depth description of how the movement has been adapted to power both the moving Earth and the capsule at some point. I assume also it's a little thicker than a standard Speedmaster

looking at the reverse of the watch I would guess the rotating earth is slaved from the constant running seconds hand and the spaceship module is slaved from the chrono seconds hand.

Would assume a slightly thicker movement and subsequently a thicker case.

I think that’s really nice though shame about the price.
Anybody think there will be a chance of a discount in a year or two?

Depends how bad the recession will be.
Could be discounted in 6 mts if the shxx hits the fan.

I love this, but at that price it should be limited edition, or priced reasonable at 5k

I have one of these (deposit paid) and it is expected to arrive December/ January. I registered an interest as soon as it was rumoured to be happening. Omega Boutique Lakeside were allocated 3, the MD has one as he is a fellow collector, I have one, and the other could have sold ten times over with deposits taken and they have plenty more wanting to register interest.
I suspect that these will not be discounted anytime soon. Whilst not a limited edition production will be limited because of the different caseback. I also suspect that demand, even at £8,500 will far outstrip supply after all Submariners aren’t a limited edition.

I think it's priced correctly to put off speculators.
Not so many will be willing to put out that outlay with no guarantee they would turn a profit.
It's a pity for enthusiasts that are priced out but I doubt they would have got hold of them anyway if it was a LE

My comment was a bit flippant to be honest but there will be a lot of changing priorities if the job market crashes and things that are oversubscribed can quickly look expensive.
The watch looks fantastic btw so looking forward to seeing the first ones up.

Yes, been into local boutique and deposit paid. All three first run watches allocated to Lakeside Omega are gone. They’ve been told that Omega have no idea when second run will be dispatched.

I think that you have this spot on. To be honest I wasn’t overly impressed with the Instagram pictures but then I saw the video on YouTube. About 30 minutes after that I got ‘the call’ so decision was made for me :-).
I look forward to posting some pictures.....

I like it but as it isn’t limited I’ll wait about a 12-18 months for the initial rush to die down. Once they start hitting the ADs, I’ll then pick one up with a discount much like you can do now with the Apollo 8 DSOTM limited production which is well into its 2nd year of production.

I do like that but Omega have not been shy setting that price.

I am sure that new one will sell well. Bit steep for a steel edition - though the novelty case back is a bit of fun.

I really like it, even though I am a grown man. One that grew up in the 70’s though, when Snoopy and Space were fun and exciting.

Unfortunately far too rich for me right now. Maybe in a year or so, if the world is kind to me.

It’s a watch I was very much looking forward to, as I missed the last Silver Snoopy a few years ago. I too am on a list, but I agree with most that this is a hefty price tag for a Speedy in a cocktail dress. I suspect many will be buying it speculatively in the hope that it performs like its predecessor. Only time will tell on that front. I, like others, am curious as to why this didn’t get released as a limited edition. I’m wondering if Omega is slowly cutting that out of their business model...who knows. The No Time To Die Seamaster, the Nekton Edition, the stainless steel Calibre 321 and now this are all normal production models. I know there are still limited editions knocking around on their site but perhaps this signals some change.

I really can’t see this one being a watch that gets discounted....it’s different to the countless DSOTM models.

Just can’t see this being a watch that Omega discounts. They will chop the price of all the DSOTM variants and other Speedmaster variants before chopping the price of this one.

    Have to say, I agree.

And although Snoopy was occasionally on tv here, no-one watched it; it was very much an American thing, so this watch bears even less meaning to most non-Americans (and I do understand the Snoopy / NASA connection).

It looks like an expensive child’s watch, and 10 years ago this would be a heavily discounted non-seller novelty piece that you’d get murdered on at resale.

Yeah they said that about the Apollo 8 DSOTM as well. Once it is out of the OBs and into the ADs then it is the AD who makes the decision.

Just watch, wait and see. I predict 18 months until discounting starts.

A tenner into the fundraiser if it isn’t?

Its fabulously childish and brings out the inner 7 year old in me (51)....reminds me of toys from days gone by ...Action Man with swivel eyes, 007 Esprit with firing rockets i lost and replaced with matches, Clarks Commandos with compass in the heel, knives with fire starters and fishing tackle in the handle.....

All utterly daft pretty useless but yet incredibly addictive and well lighthearted....lifes too short and full of bad shit...

    So.

Im also going on zee list.....

Fast forward to 2.10 for caseback childishness....
