Excuse me - I'm trying to eat my evening meal here.....

    Anyone watching Countryfile?

The delights of the fragrant Ellie Harrison are somewhat offset by some guy collecting bull semen, followed by an expert showing what wonders are to be found in a pile of cow shit.

Just sat with my 6 and 9 year old, bit awkward! Lol.

Was it the bull semen, or that you were sitting with your knob out - watching Ellie Harrison?

On a similar note, Mrs R decided to put on 'Botched', a programme about failed cosmetic surgery the other night while I was trying to deal with my Shepherd's Pie.

That was not cool at all, so OP has my sympathies..

What not even if it’s a TV dinner?

I've had a nose on gov.uk and I can't find any rules on that one (yet).

There's only me and the missus at home. What are we supposed to do if not watch the TV - talk to each other??

My wife and I always switch off the TV when taking meals and yes we talk to each other. You seem to imply that we are unusual.

Mick P., I fear that you may be overestimating the degree of seriousness that I am applying to this thread.

    Now you are wriggling.

Start a new regime tomorrow, when you sit down at the table, just eat your food without the distraction of the TV and talk to your wife, say nice things to her and for the duration make her the sole focus of your life.

Bit of a problem there. We rarely eat at the same time. In fact she is usually asleep while I eat.

‘All piss taking apart- I think there’s something to be said with that Mick. Most of us are probably guilty of spending too much time on the computer- phone- etc and down time can’t be a bad thing

I sat down last night and had a good chat over a meal with my wife of 14 years. Turns out she’s quite nice. .

OK, I suggest you improve your conversational abilities. Don't mention watches ever.

Yes we have a golden rule, no TV whist eating and hence we have been married for 49 wonderful years.

Feel free to run for the bucket.

I agree with the sentiments being expressed here. Unfortunately I have health requirements and logistics combining to make mealtimes a bit problematic most evenings.

I must be doing something right Mick, we're only one year behind you.

John Craven must look back fondly on the respectable days of Newsround.

What's next for Countryfile - Animal Farm?

    I mean Orwell's book.

    Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells.

Definition of “Be careful what you wish for”:

... used to tell people to think before they say that they want something and to suggest that they may not actually want it, e.g. think having twins would be fun? Be careful what you wish for, you may just get it.

How does your use of the phrase indicate agreement with my statement? It feels out of context so I’m curious. Thanks.

one of my friends is a rep for a 'bull produce' company; always makes for an interesting chat when people ak what he does for a living: 'I sell spunk' usually gets their attention....

and his name is Dick; which i think ties in nicely!

I'd rather watch some television during dinner than turn into an alcoholic. Just sayin'.
