Thread: Newmark 52 Field watch

  1. #101
Received my first field watch, the 52 Ivory. Have to say the quality is superb for the price, really impressed with the whole package.
Must resist looking at the others.

    Ewan,

I have a BIG birthday in a couple of weeks and I’ve been dropping hints to the family about the ivory dial version of the 52. I have a sneaking suspicion that it may be heading my way as a present from my two sons. I already have the 6BB chrono and love it, so I’m really looking forward to this one!

Ahhh! Sounds excellent and I hope your hints worked ;-)

Well funnily enough, I answered the door to our postman about an hour ago and took delivery of a VERY well wrapped box addressed to my eldest son. He then rushed downstairs to grab it from me and disappeared.

    This is looking promising! :-)

That looks great ^^^ - what strap is that, please?

I'm waiting for a Bonklip from Joseph Bonnie, I think it might suit the 52 rather well...

Looking forward to seeing it on the Bonklip!

Your wish, Ewan. My command. ;-)

I reckon it looks pretty decent! It suits the vintage look of the 52 well, IMO.

I’ll try it on the 6BB as well, obviously, but I think the 52 for today.

Very vintage - I like it! Thanks for the pic :-)

Yes indeed! Birthday today and sure enough, thanks to my two wonderful sons, I have the ivory dialled 52 on my wrist as I type this. Wonderful watch Ewan. I’m thrilled with it.

I’m rather tempted by one of these but can’t decide on which!

Anyone have an image of the Ivory version on a Bonklip??

Nice looking especially the white dial, but can’t see me wearing a quartz. There is something about wearing an mechanical watch and prefer a screw down crown.

Wearing mine now - it ticks 4 times a second (or maybe 5?) so doesn’t look like a quartz - plus the crown pushes in firmly and is nicely shrouded by the case. No crown to cross thread either!
I’m also astonished to see that it hasn’t gained or lost a second in 3 weeks against my atomic g shock. But each to their own!!

To add to the above, the weight of the watch isn't affected by it being a quartz as it has a heavy case and a sapphire crystal. It is almost indistiguishable.

Some random worker I guess, I picked it up from AliExpress for a test, and it is pretty good, nice and soft, will see how it behaves over couple of months, hopefully it will not desintegrate as they usually do

I set mine a second slow about 5 weeks ago, and it's still about half a second slow. By contrast a quartz Seiko diver I own has gained about 8 seconds in the same time, and my solar Seiko chrono about 3. Very pleasing.

While having to wait till Xmas before I get my hands on my new 52 from Newmark (wife has one wrapped up for me) I was having a little play on the website and it looks like the 10% off all watches they had on for Black Friday is still working, although the banner is gone put a watch in the basket and it still takes off the 10%.

Looking at buying a 52 cream dial version for myself, is the 10% discount still working or is there a discount code for TZUK members?

Mrs Neil gained many brownie points this Xmas. Extremely happy and that sweeping quartz movement gives it a super vintage look with modern day grab and go credentials.

Very pleased and if anyone's on the fence I see there is a discount code on Instagram at the moment.

    Happy new year

I've put mine on a blue rubber strap with white stitching that I bought for my Tag, shortly before it died. Feels like a natural aesthetic fit for the Newmark, for me anyway. Very comfortable, too.

    Still keeping stunningly accurate time.

Well, my resolution to buy no more watches in 2021 lasted a total of 14 hours.

Just ordered a black dial 52

It's gained about a second since I posted this. Keeping time to something like 5 or 6 seconds per year at the moment.

I just noticed my ivory dial 52 has gained less than 2 seconds in 4 months - more like 1.5 seconds! I continue to be impressed by this watch, and I’ve just seen they are 10% off at the moment - for about £180 they’re a total steal imho - plus all flavours appear to be in stock, why they are not already gone is a mystery to me! - I even noticed that the second hand lines up perfectly with all the quarter second markers, which is a bit spooky as most quartz I’ve owned fail to hit 1 per second, the Seiko mecaquartz in these is quite an impressive bit of kit imho

The 3 52 models are available again

    https://newmarkwatchcompany.com/newmark52ivorydial/

Been enjoying the one I bought from RobDad. Bought the "storm grey" Newmark strap for it for a change. Think it brings out the blued hands a bit more

15% discount available on the 52 and the NP Panda at the moment-
Given market conditions we have reduced the price of the 52 to £175.00 including Worldwide shipping.

The NP Panda has been reduced to £179.00 including Worldwide shipping.

For those on our mailing list then we are offering a discount code which can be used at checkout for a further 15% discount. So don’t forget to use: 15APRIL to take advantage of this which will bring the 52 down to £148.75 and the Panda down to £152.15 including shipping.

And ordered! - really missed my 52, didn’t realise until it had gone - such a perfect size and that picture convinced me of the error of my ways!

Looks a lot of watch for the money and if it's anything like their other offerings should be solid quality.

    I'm tempted, any owners here?

It'll sound trite, but I struggle with the name 'Newmark' it just hits the wrong chord with me... sort of 70s Hong Kong.

It’s an old revived British brand. Kind of looks like it should be on a clock as opposed to a watch but works for me - the branding is quite subtle in the flesh

Well, my new ivory dialled 52 arrived well within 24 hours of ordering and I’m delighted (again!) - this one won’t be going anywhere. It’s a great size even on my fat wrists (which is why I went for the Ivory, I think lighter dials wear larger) - so comfortable and easy to wear!

    It's a 371 or SR920SW 👍

    Newmark 52 Field watch

Replaced mine literally last week which was less than a year and a half after purchase - pretty easy to do though and £2.50 for 2 batteries!

Turns out I had some in a drawer in the mancave. Same batteries as my mid-'80s Seiko. Handy. The second hand is sweeping round the dial once more.
