I hope you are all safe and well. Also, apologies if there have been a post of something similar - please point me in the right direction if so, and I'll delete this post.
So the story goes that my brother recently got married and being a watchhead like me, I thought it'd be nice to get my brother and new in-law a pair of matching watches!
They already have a few of the classics, like matching rolex sports.
I know some of the obvious ideas are Franck Mullers, JLC, PP, Rolexes, IWCs.. like these..
However, I am working on a tight budget actually, so two watches comes to mind.
1. Omega speedmaster moonwatch + reduced version
2. Cartier Tank
I am not so keen on the Omega because I think the black-dial reduced still seems a little too manly for a lady, and the Tank Solo surprising comes in at a very decent price for a Cartier. However, I believe that the Tank SM only comes in quartz? (I know!!!!)
So... personally, I am a little put-off with this being a quartz, not sure if the mechanism justifies it being a cartier and if this still makes the watch a classic.. although shop price for me is at around 2,000 GBP (The tank solo XL is great, being now in-house 1847MC, instead of the ETA2892 and shope price for me is 3,000GBP)
So my question to all watch gods out there is:
1. Any other ideas for classic couples watch at this sort of budget?
2. If Cartier Tank Solo, what do you guys reckon of the SM (ladies) one being a quartz??

Thought about the speed master 38mm with mother of Pearl dial? Definitely not manly as it’s also got pink hands. My wife has one to match my speedy.
You could all ways get an Uber speedy for the guy! Mine is just the 9300 speedmaster.
Tudor do a few 'his' and 'hers' models.
If working on a tight budget, I'll throw in a curveball. These come in at under two hundred for the two. Seiko 5 snk369k1, and syma41k1. Both autos, both from a proper watch company, and both nice watches. My wife has the syma41k1 and loves it.

The Cartier Tank Solo is Quartz, but what’s wrong with that? My partner wears one when the mood takes her, and she wears a Rolex at other times.
The gents Tank is rather nice; so it seems a suitable match.

Yeah it was just over 4K retail price when we bought it, but I notice it’s up to 5.2k now. Usual disclaimer on Omega discounts apply though. 324.30.38.50.55.001 < - model ref for you. If you’re interested I’ll log back in on Tapatalk and post a pic of real world if you need.
