I think 50s-70s Rolex has to be the best era of any wrist watch manufacturer. I’m not fond of modern Rolex but there vintage has just aged so well. That really is sublime.
Agreed... Something in the (cut glass) water (jugs) at Rolex during that time. Made plenty of good watches since; but the most successful ones are generally ones which respect/and riff on the original, post-war ‘genius’.

It's rare to see any of the old Milgauss up for sale. Spotted this one, a 1019 full set from 1979 - only snag is the price tag, £30k.

To me, the 1019 was Rolex’s peak (in aesthetics at least). It was never meant to cost 30k, and I don’t think I’ll ever have that kind of money to spend on a watch. However, if I did, I can’t think of anything else I’d rather have. Pure class.
Not a huge Rolex guy but the milgauss is the coolest. I like all of them!
