Right 3rd Time - the PRS-25 Smiths Everest

    Hi all,

Well I successfully snagged one of the latest iterations of these lovely watches.

I’ve owned the previous 2 iterations. The first one - I think the bracelet just didn’t work for me, well the buckle anyway. The second, I wasn’t sure at the time, but getting this version I think highlighted that the logo was just unbalancing the dial. So, when I saw Eddie’s mock-up pictures of this one I just knew I wanted it. What a fantastic watch this is. It could truly be my only watch. It’s quite photogenic too... I’ll be posting some more photos, but here’s a starter!

Looks really great. I'd love a 36mm Explorer but might have to try and grab one of these in the meantime

Looks lovely! I agree the new logo really ties the whole dial together more cohesively. I'm (im)patiently waiting for mine.

I’ve thought about putting it on a strap, but the bracelet really works here I think.

It may well be one of those watches that seems to suit virtually anything.

I used to hate bracelets but when I got round to trying some better quality ones found that I could kind of get on with them. The one on my Explorer was excellent. There is no doubt that some pieces look much nicer on a bracelet.

Their bulk and weight usually ends up irritating me at some point so my watches often end up on leather or better still Perlon for at least some of the time.

I think that the vintage look of a grey Eulit will go well with this new version of the Everest.

It’s definitely a watch that can go with any strap I agree.
In the end, I wanted an everyday watch on a bracelet that could be worn for anything, whilst having a heritage or style that made it feel special, whilst not costing a silly amount of money. And I think this might be that watch!

Damn. Forgotten about the release. It does look great now. Not that the previous 36 isn’t, but the new logo completes it.

I must be the only one that prefers the old logo on the black dialed Everest !

It's just a cleaner, simpler look in my eyes ... one word in the top half to balance the one word in the bottom.

Different strokes for different folks, the "old" logo looks too big and bold to me.

That's a cracker, I have the original but think I prefer this one with the new logo.

    Enjoy!

I like both logos but prefer the newer one because it gives off more of a vintage vibe, which I really like.

Mine just arrived today. LOVE IT.
But one thing I was stunned by the most - that bracelet. It had to go off.
I love tapering and this one could go well with 22 to 18 or even 16, but this was way way off for my taste.
    Superbly engineered, just too bulky.

I hope Eddie will offer 22mm riveted tapered bracelet with small clasp. I would get that in a second.

Thankfully it's a strap monster so here we go:

Someone asked for pictures of the 40mm Everest on other straps. The bracelet came off mine as soon as I unpacked it on Dec 8th 2011 and remains untouched and stickered in the box. I had a Titan CS from TSS waiting for it and it stayed on this seeminlgly indestructible strap for years, with occasional spells on Natos, until my current liking for canvas. In fact one of my pics on a Nato made it into Ewan's excellent review of the watch on his Watcharama site! Re the logo, the logo on both of mine (36 & 40mm) is the non-tittyduck version which is more in keeping with the black dialled miltary issue Smiths from the early 60's IMHO, Eddie's latest version of the logo is perfect for the white dailled watches he's doing.

I love mine also, I think that the new logo really does make the dial and whilst the old logo looked good, this one looks way, way better.

If I could change one feature on the dial, I would also have the word Everest printed in white also, this would complete and give the dial balance and symmetry....look at the white dial version, my personal opinion.

As for straps, I think the watch would look great on just about anything but for me, I think it's perfect on the bracelet.

The straight logo was the main thing that made me uncertain about buying the Everest before - I do think it looks great on the prs29 though.

I said to a friend of mine (and Everest Expedition owner) that if the logo was ever changed to the de luxe style, I would have to buy one.

That's the trick, it works when is printed smaller. It was too big on the Everest

That looks to me like a lot more interesting proposition than the first version on the jubelee bracelet.

As nice as the bracelet is, I work in IT and need a strap that doesn't interfere or catch on the keyboard. This parachute strap does the job.

The new (old) logo dial looks amazing!

Does anyone know when these will be in stock again?

Sounds like a plan. I have considered an everest several times over the years but the new dial logo has just made them all the more tempting.

I was tempted 2 batches ago but I decided to get the Expedition at that time. My black Everest was delivered yesterday and I'm happy I waited.

Received my PRS-25 yesterday. Such a lovely timepiece.
I have thrown it on a jubilee - I like it so much that I’m thinking of transferring the smiths clasp.

    Looks fantastic!

I’m still (im)patiently waiting for mine. I ordered two leather straps from Two Stitch Straps as I prefer wearing a leather strap to a bracelet.

It’s just a pseudo Rolex one from Etsy. I picked up some 20mm end links from eBay that are for a Rolex and they fit well. I think there were about £4.

I also transferred the smiths clasp across...
