Boot sale - Vintage fire extinguisher

A really busy boot sale yesterday, nothing too much took my eye except this lovely old fire extinguisher, I thought it would look good in my garage in 'brass corner' where I have a load of old brass brazing lamps and interesting old stuff, or 'more old sh*t' according to the wife, it still has water / fluid in it so Ill be draining that out but the bottom spigot has seizes so will soak that in something before I force it too much, I did think of cleaning it up a bit, not a full blown polish as i like the age to it to still be there. I thought it was a fun man cave thing for a tenner, still has the mounting bracket which is nice. I think the body is brass and the plaque might be copper.

    Cheers..

Very nice, a quick rub with Brasso will give it a nice sheen.

Leave it as it is Jason.

I'd have bought that for a tenner too.

That's the great thing about boot sales, you don't know you want it until you see it!
    Cheers,
    Neil.

I confess that piqued my interest a little, I went to school in Stowmarket.

Not sure what’s in that but as I remember it a lot of them had carbon tetra chloride fills,or was it trichoethylene? I seem to remember them getting emptied cos it was good for cleaning grease spots off of clothing!

I don’t know for sure what was in it, but I emptied it this afternoon by draining from the nut near the top, the fluid had a solventy kind of odour.
    Cheers..
