Thanks. Yeah only 5-digits for me too. The only 6-digits that I really like are the Sea-Dwellers (not DeepSea though).

Unfortunately it's not mine. I returned it today. :)

I wrote a blog about the watch yesterday.
    https://luxurywatches635.wordpress.c...ner-ref-16613/

But I owned one for a year back in the day. I loved it but always felt a bit embarrassed to wear gold when I was young. TT Sub is a bit "too much". :D

Some very nice photographs of some fine watches. It made me question whether I’d ever owned a Rolex that wasn’t 5 digits; I did own a 1603 going back a decade but since then it’s been 5 digit all the way. I’ve never been tempted at all by any newer models, although the new Submariners are getting closer to the mark (for me). I might dig out a few pics of my own to add to the thread...

    5-digit Rolex porn (X-rated)

5 digit and older are by far my favourite Rolex, to top it off I much prefer the original tritium watches..

    Spot the difference!!

@murkeywaters: Absolutely beautiful. I love the tritium dials too (unless they become "too yellow"). Yours look perfect.

I have absolutely no desire to own any others than 5-digits (as 5513 and 1675 prices have gotten out of hand).

I just sit back and enjoy looking at people in the "waiting lists". I couldn't care LESS, haha.

For me the 5-digits were the design pinnacle of Rolex. Yes, the new ones have superior bracelets, clasps and are probably better watches too.

But would I choose a 2011 Mercedes SL over the classic Pagoda? No way. Yes the new one can outperform the old one easily but "spirit" isn't measured in numbers. I even love the old oyster bracelet and "cheapy" clasp. Very comfortable to wear.

I enjoy both 5 digit and 6 digit Rolexes. The self professed 5 digit lovers always seem to be a little defensive always:-). It is amusing.
Regardless, nice watches and lovely pics. As usual.

    Great pics!
I tried a YM on years ago but didn’t buy, it was certainly a lot cheaper then.
My GMT is very comfortable to wear too due to the smaller crown guards and winder.

Very nice Coke. You have the newer insert with darker "burgundy" red. That's much nicer than the bland old one.

    Cheers.

I had the bezel changed while in London.
Popped into St. James and it was done within the hour.
No idea how they verify watches but it was put under the counter and held to the side for a few seconds, the receptionist confirmed she was happy with the watch and placed it back on the counter.
    Weird!

My 2 favourite 5 digits. A 16600 tritium dial from 1991 and a 16710 tritium dial from 1997. Perfect size for me. The 16600 had a perfect balance between being “vintage” and smaller case but still has the heft.

That and the matte triple 6 probably are the nicest but that's because they're essentially 4 digit with a quickset.

That actually explains why I like it so much (I didn’t even realise myself). Being a transitional model the 16750 shares much more similarity with 1675s than with later models

A couple of years ago, the wife and I were having a rather good lunch in a restaurant halfway up a mountain in Spain where it is very common to see some retiree wearing a Rolex, usually a Datejust/Daydate or a Sub.

For the first time ever, I saw some old chap wearing a Sub on one table and another chap was wearing one on different table. One of the watches looked classy and the other looked a bit too show off and blingy. Yes the elegant Sub was a 5-digit and the blingy one was a current model.

That one incident has kept me on the 5-digit track ever since.

Love my 16600, after much deliberation it was the first big watch purchase I made. It's now beaten to hell, the rotor makes a grinding noise but it keeps excellent time. Maybe time for a service and some work.

Is that a copy and paste Mick because I’m sure I’ve read that story at least once

It's not a cut and paste but I did waffle on about it a couple of years ago.

Perhaps she swapped it for a fake ...
