Tom Hardy the new James Bond?

Can we trust The Vulcan Reporter? If so: https://www.thevulcanreporter.com/ex...ew-james-bond/ I would applaud this!

100% behind that. If it's true.

Seems to be all over the net today about this rumor so it looks likely to me.

He will have no trouble getting in shape and doing the action / fight scenes.

    Good modern candidate i guess

He was my pick a few months ago so I'm all in!

Maybe his beautiful wife will join him as a bond girl?

Not for me, he’s too manly/thuggish. Bond needs to look like your missus could get the better of him in an arm wrestle.

I think he’s be a decent choice I’d definitely watch him

Ah, a fan of the Roger Moore era.

I think it will work, if it's true, if he plays it right. Daniel Craig had the presence, the intensity, the undercurrent of danger and all that. But he didn't have the charm and the savoir faire. If he does it properly Tom Hardy could well be an improvement.

You do know he's not an actor?

I always thought Jason Statham would be ok, rough diamond but cleans up well and his wife could of been Miss MP

    Didnt stop George Lazenby.

I think Hardy is a good choice. Looking forward to his Bond outing much more than Craigs next one.

Statham! Jesus thanks for the laugh.

If true a set of Cuban heels and TH will be fine, although I would pick Cavill any day.

Statham would have been a terrible casting but Cavill would have been even worse.

It's should be John Hamm of mad men who played Don Draper. He can carry the debonair off in a Cary Grant manner. Although not inherently English which may clash with people's preference as being not being native so it won't work.

Mark Strong should of had a go also.

I definitely don't think Tom Hardy should go anywhere near the role. His bizarre voice acting is grating and he doesn't have the charm or wit neither.

He has got that 'mockney' Guy Richtie act about him permanently. I've seen Capone it was dire , he sounded like Elmer Fudd and Tony soprano (a poor imitation at that) , then there is the incoherent 'Bane' of Dark knight rises. Anyone care for some helium inspired Hannibal lector diatripe? Not me. Mad Max ? Brought nothing but nothing but a wasteland performance with not a sliver of Mel Gibson's charm or the acting without talking displayed in Road warrior compared to Fury rd . Then there is the Venom film - let's not talk further.

Ok Ive established I don't care for the guys acting chops and lots of people rate him as some kind of modern Marlon Brando. I thought really he was decent filler as Alfie Solomon in Peaky Blinders but he basically does the same thing In every film and seems to try too hard. Crazy ramblings to pass as improv method acting . Look at his Ronnie Kray. He's a gruff character and more villain than refined British spy on official business of Her Majesty's Government.

    Rant over ..

I'm sure a lot of actors would be suitable - wasn't Richard Madden a front runner at some point? I think he would be better than Tom Hardy. Henry Cavill looks the part but cannot act for toffee. Maybe a younger Eric Bana too, but he's too old now.

In Vulture's article, Tom Hiddleston was mentioned as well. He's known as Loki, but I like him here as well:

Would have made a great Bond as well. Perhaps the choice for Hardy says something about the type of movies the producers want to shoot.

Wouldn’t pick Hardy myself or particularly any of the above.

I had a feeling (clearly wrong now) that they might try and go a different way with Bond. Not a politically correct way, just something different. Like a younger Bond, mid to late 20’s and a Lieutenant or Lieutenant Commander, still RN but transferring over. An unknown actor getting the role.

Tom Hardy the new James Bond?

I always thought Clive owen would have made a good bond or as mentioned above Mark Strong.

Quite like the idea of Idris Elba. I didn't at first when it was mooted a while back, but I think he can have the necessary 'presence' and cold violence in his repertoire. I always liked Craig because he looked like he could kill you without thinking if he needed to, a prerequisite for Bond in my opinion. Haven't seen much of Tom Hardy so don't know if he could carry that off. I think Statham could do the coldness part, but not sure his looks would carry the part. I hope we get a thug who wears Savile Row suits and charms the ladies!

I'd have much preferred Idris but I don't think he would have had 4+ movies in him, bit old now and I'm surprised Craig managed this film.

Tom Hardy could be the nail in the 007 coffin as it's been failing for a while. Really makes me want a new Bourne film instead.

Yes, Bourne is a hard act to follow imo. On a different level Sicario is a favourite.

Chiwetel Ejiofor would be good IMO, but it'll never happen

Could of tried a female, "Its Bond, Jenny Bond" :)

Would of? - would’ve is short for would have - just saying. It’s not pedantry, it’s the English language. Anyhow I think Hardy would be pretty good, like Craig he actually looks like he can handle himself. Connery was the same, you just wouldn’t pick a fight with any of them. Brosnan looked like he’d be worried about his hair!

I read that Craig was 38 when his first Bond film came out and Hardy is 43 so he is going to be fairly old when Bond 26 comes out. He’s not going to have many films in him. They should go more for someone in their early 30s

Dan Stevens would be good - he’s got the looks, the acting chops and still a couple years from 40.

Not for me. Dan Stevens looks like he's got all the authority of a supply teacher, never been a contender for bond.

The thing is do we want JB to be a suave operator, or the obvious thug.

I’d like to see the former return to give the franchise a total refresh, away from the current Bourne model.

Surely Bond is both, a suave operator when needed and a thug when it counts. You need him to be the guy who wins. Craig can look the part in a dinner jacket and strangle someone a minute later, and look convincing doing both.

Both actors who've played Prince Philip in The Crown are good 'Bonds'. Although I can seen Matt Smith being the villain in a Bond movie as well!

lol - I’ve met Christian, and feel suitably small ;)

I used to work doors with my one of my brothers, who’s only 5’8, and he virtually towered over JS. On our night off Jason then went back to a friend's party and was around the same height as other people we know around 5’5 ish. He was having a good time anyway.
It's just a matter of time...
