    US Open Golf

Anybody got any top tips for the Open? Who is going to conquer the crazy fast greens at Winged Foot?

Nobody. It’s a stupidly difficult course where the winner is usually the least over par rather than most under par. Best anyone will do is ‘manage’ the course rather than conquer it.
What you do need at Winged Foot is a great short game so I quite like Webb Simpson at 25/1 each way. He isn’t the longest but that doesn’t matter here, plus he hits lots of fairways. Most importantly his short game is superb.

Very hard to call. Rahm and Johnson in great form and odds stupidly low. Only 1 major between them and wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t add even though they are big favourites. Xander is a great shout I think. Or Justin Thomas.

Greens are apparently running so fast they make Augusta look slow.

If you fancy an English bet, I think Hatton (33-1) and Fitzpatrick (45-1) are the two I'd bet on.

Quite fancy Marc Leishman as well at 150-1 (he's in the top 15 for World Ranking points gained in 2020). Mackenzie Hughes of Canada is my other long shot pick at 125-1. Skybet have Each Way odds for the Top 11.

I wouldn’t put any money on Rory. He has freely admitted he can’t come up with goods with no crowds.

Watching the preview last night, it’s going to be a very tough and unforgiving course. Not sure shooting under par is going to be easy.

I like the Justin Thomas shout. Maybe also Colin morikawa, he has the game for it and the confidence from the uspga.

Might have a cheeky fiver on Justin Rose.

    This is great watching.

Justin Thomas brilliant first day, then collapsed second day. Patrick Reid took over and folded yesterday. Course went from easy to hard over night. Should be a great finish today and looking like there could be a new major winner. Louis or Rory only major winners that realistically could stop that.

Excellent golf from DeChambeau to not only won but to win by finishing under par. That’s quite an achievement for Winged Foot as can be seen by the next best result being level par.
Nice to see Webb Simpson coming in on my e/w bet as well

It was a great performance by DeChambeau when all around were falling apart.
The course was brutal in places especially the rough but I think Augusta’s greens
are slicker. I though really don’t like the way modern golf is evolving at professional
and club level. Technology is so advanced that it’s starting to be ‘who can hit the ball’
the longest is at a huge advantage, some of these guys are hitting 8irons 240 yards.

Whatever you think of the guy, that was some performance by BD. He recognised that lots of fairways were going to be missed by the whole field so just focused on blasting the ball as far as he possibly could knowing that there was a decent likelihood that even if he ended up in the rough, a good proportion of his competitors would too. But of course he’d be 80 or 100 yards closer to the pin than them. Risky, of course, but very smart and it worked out.

I just wish he wasn’t so damn slow!
