Quite pleased with myself, cheapo sub bracelet

After having my old 5512 for quite sometime now I’ve never been able to were it really as the original riveted bracelet is too small for my fat wrists, other than on a NATO which I’m not particularly a fan Of, It just stays in the safe.

I put I wtb out for a link and I was going to butcher my original bracelet and add a link but common sense has prevailed and I decided that probably wouldn’t go well. So I wondered if I’d be able to get a bracelet from eBay, not sure why I didn’t think of it sooner but I got one extremely cheap and I’m well pleased with the result, I’ll now be able to give the watch some proper wrist time, otherwise it was likely going to be sold if it weren’t for this.

Did they not offer the correct lug width for your watch?

Would look better on a Nato than incorrect fitting end pieces.

Sorry but does not work for me.
    Cheers,

if the bracelete is cheap perhaps the wider version and modify/file the end link to fit? Although i think your current bracelet isn't bad

That gap is huge. Why not buy the same bracelet a size bigger and bend / butcher the end link.

Think at some point I’ll probably get some end links and try and mod them slightly or buy the larger bracelet and make it fit, the gap isn’t that big really it’s less than 1mm just looks huge on pics

I would be worried about wearing an expensive watch on an ill fitting bracelet. It wouldn’t cost too much to get a decent bracelet that fits

Seems fine to me. I recently put my George Daniels on a Vostok bracelet and it looks great:

    I can't agree more.

That watch deserves a proper fitting bracelet.

    +1 there.

I picked up a 2mm Vostok bracelet a few years ago and now have it on a Citizen Eco-Drive chrono that originally came on a mesh.

For some reason though, I never liked the look of it on the mesh.

As it already had cut outs for square end links, the Vostok sits just nicely and gives it a far nicer presence.

Sorry, but your Daniels deserves the finest leather/crocodile/ostrich that money can buy. Just my humble opinion though.
I'll never see one of these in the 'wild' unless you invite me for tea.

If not keen on a nato, what about a Suede or leather strap? Or even a Rubber B? Truly that watch deserves a genuine bracelet!

The Oyster bracelets off DHGate are immaculate, even the glidelock-style clasp

Of course they are, but everyone agrees the Chinese are copying to perfection the cases and bracelets.

I think you will find that everyone does not agree, but crack on with that one.

As long as we keep buying "copies" they have us by the short and curlies. If I see the MIC or MIPRC I now walk/run away so I don't buy cheap/buy twice/three times +++. I'm sick of buying cr*p that has built in obsolescence. The "OEM" that isn't car parts situation is bordering on dangerous with suspension, steering and electrical failures happening regularly. The car forums are full of angry parts users that can't get fit for purpose kit any more. So many Western company names on boxes from the Indian sub-continent and Asia.

Did you see the Tudor restoration video recently, a dive watch that had been shot. They got the lug back into shape toot sweet with a hammer and a lump of brass.

Definite no from me. I’d much prefer a NATO than an ill fitting bracelet. Or as suggested these older subs do quite suit a nice leather. For me I’d look at the Bulang and Son leather NATO.

I did watch that thought it was an amazing restoration but I wouldn’t fancy dining that to mine I’d probably end up snapping the lug off ha

Fantastic craftsmanship. That bezel insert stands out like a sore thumb though and a touch of the Sean Connery wrong size NATO, although i realise that was the strap it was worn on.

I'm a bit confused. Did OP buy it used and the strap didn't fit?

Looks much better now, and most importantly gets it being worn.

Oh I think I get it now, Rolex or the dealer supplied the watch without (enough) spare links. And they cost a fortune.
Just a video on the Rolex link 'scam'.

Correct, when I bought the watch the Original Rolex bracelet Attached didn’t have enough links in it to fit my wrist
