Tried Goslings for the first time, last month having read a number of great reviews, but found this too sweet and hints of molasses.
Much prefer these 2, however will have to try Havana 7
The best is Pussers followed by Mount Gay and Appletons.
Look up a recipe for Painkiller - preferably the original from Jost Van Dyke Soggy Dollar Bar.
PS I did a Lot of sampling in the Caribbean during the 70s and 80s then a rerun last year.
It is possible to get some bootleg on some Island beaches which has the added benefit of sending you blind - and melting the bottle it comes in...

I too am a big fan of Havana Club 7 Años, but I only have access to it when I fly abroad so I have to work with alternatives. I find Matusalem Gran Reserva 15 and Rhum Barbancourt 15 Estate Reserve to be fine substitutes, though the Barbancourt is also tough to find now. I imagine that might have something to do with the hurricane Haiti had back in 2016. I did recently pick up a bottle of Bacardi Gran Reserva Diez, but I haven't cracked into that one yet.
Currently enjoying a bourbon thing at the moment but I recently bought a bottle of ‘Cut to the Spice’ rum for my daughter/boyfriends consumption, I tried it with coke and thought or was way too much vanilla strong but if you mix it 50/50 with another spiced rum (captain Morgan/Bacardi spiced then its very nice indeed
Since reading this I have also purchased a bottle of Havna 7 rum to sample

Not really a rum drinker but enjoy a wee tot now and again we’ve just discovered Bumbu rum.
Absolutely delicious, my missus loves it too.
