Any clue of the reference? I suggest the market at vintagerolexforum.com
Hi all, a friend has lost the back of his long time 50’s Rolex. It was a gold back. Lost in an evening of beer and boats (don’t ask).
Any ideas who I should approach to try to source a replacement?
thanks!

He's going to struggle to find a gold Oyster caseback. May find one in steel, which will do the trick. Model ref. and serial number will be helpful.

Hi all, thanks for the*comments; I'm chasing model numbers now. The story of the*loss is short and dull, involving a boys night out on a boat, and an industrial amount of red wine and cheese, and what I can only assume is a loose case back. Note: owner has previously lost a Cartier*Santos in a similar fashion which did turn up about a year later tucked in the back of a drawer of navigation equipment, so I suspect the back will turn up. A stainless replacement sounds like the right idea under the circumstances.
Best wishes
