    They fit between the watch lugs with the strap off, each block has two sizes you just rotate them 180.

    Yes they hold the watch between the lugs to stop it rotating while you unscrew the back or as in the picture you can hold the case in the case clamp.

    Thank you. I understand now. I have not seen this type of holder before and it seems a very good idea. It is a pity that the cheaper case tools don't include them. :)

    This is how a watch sits on the case opener. I'm removing the case back with the watch in this position. Dial up, I use it for removing a screw down crystal retaining ring, as per this particular watch, a Seiko 7C43.

    You really ought to have spring bars fitted to keep the case off the base of the tool, otherwise you run the risk of damaging bezels, inserts or crystals.

    It was just sitting in its current position on my opener to take a quick photo. I wasn't actually using the opener in this photo Duncan.
