    Everest Expedition Wrist Shot

I’m still trying to make up my mind between the Everest, and the Everest Expedition . They both look absolutely amazing. I have a lot of smaller black and dark watches in my collection so I’m kind of leaning towards the Everest Expedition, but I’d really like to see a wrist shot. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Sunday is rapidly approaching. 🧐

I’m fortunate enough to have both the Expedition and Everest. Tough choice as both are great watches. Enjoy Sunday!

    Thanks 😃

Thanks for the wristshots, especially with the bracelet. Definitely getting one of these first!

Of all the Everests, I believe that only the Black Face are for sale atm. I don't know if/when the White Face and Explorer models are due back in stock.

I think this will be the first watch I'll be wearing on a bracelet.

I haven't used bracelets since the early 90s... and putting the Expedition on, brought back a lot of memories. For one, I forgot how versatile they are. The 20mm lugs really work with the case size of the Expedition.

A watch case this size with 20mm lugs doesn't work well with a parallel ie. non tapering strap, IMHO. Much better on the bracelet, IMHO.

    GMT

I always assumed (yes, dad always said.. "Don't assume you make an ass out of u and me") that London time was the same as GMT - but it's not . You must have some sort of Daylight savings time in London. Damn that Benjamin Franklin!

Eddie mentioned that the latest batch shipped earlier this week. He was expecting delivery around today (Thursday).

Yes, we have the wonderful Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which is basically the same as UTC, ie, the global time standard. We use this Oct-Mar.

Then in the ‘summer’ we have British Summer Time (UTC +1), from Mar-Oct. Attachment 18244

    Sold out

Don’t fear, even though it says sold out when you search the Everest expedition… Don’t worry! If you read on and he’s got stock of both the Everest and the Expedition 😃

Says in stock for a 30 minute order window, tomorrow at 2pm, but no indication of price? I’ll likely be out anyway and unable to order.

The price is there in the box at the bottom of the Expedition's page where you can add to cart.

Congrats! Out of curiosity, which one did you decide - the Black Everest or Expedition?

    Expedition was the final choice

The beautiful wrist shots of the Expedition made up my mind. Plus, I am still kicking around the idea of a Tudor Black Bay 36 or 40 so I went with the Everest Expedition. I have until Mr. Platts gets a new shipment of the black Everests in to decide which way I'm going to go. I stopped by the Tudor Dealer in my area and was disappointed to discover that the bracelet for the 36mm Black Bay was so much shorter that the 40 that I couldn't even fit my hand through the bracelet to see how it looked or felt. I do have an 8.25" bony wrist and large hands, but there is no reason for the bracelet on the 36 to be THAT much shorter. BTW, extra links only cost $56 each!

You're very welcome. At least one chap got the GMT/BST time wrong and didn't make it. I'm glad to have helped in some small way.

These pictures helped me too. I thought, 'why buy a Smiths that looks like a Rolex that didn't make it up Everest, when I can buy a Smiths that looks like a Smiths that actually did make it up Everest!'
(Yes I know A404/454 are slightly different)

That said, I might still [try to] buy the jubilee edition if it's released!

One of these days I am going to try and find which particular expedition Eddie had in mind... I am going with the Welsh Himalayan Expedition. It was much tougher on the watches than the Everest Expedition.

It was the Fuch's Antarctic Expedition. More info here: https://www.watchgecko.com/vintage-s...-deluxe-watch/

And an example of the original watch.
