Be nice if a genuine collector purchased it rather than an Instagram/influencer..

Maybe a few here from the Southport area were in on the bidding??

It originally came from a well known source
However the bezel and hands (whilst genuine) were not on the watch, they have been added recently.
There is a thread over on MWR about the watch. If interested its worth a read if only for the rise in price these now fetch.

    Edit: Nope ignore me!!!!
I was totally incorrect. 2 different watches being discussed at the same time

I think only a collector would buy it, the Instagram/influencer would be looking for a garish showy watch with completely useless diamionds on it or something

Be interesting to see what Mike or Haywood think of this one especially if there have been changes.

Then again, better to have the correct parts that are not original to this watch rather than service replacement parts - I would guess (probably wrong).

I believe that the thread on MWR refers to similar watches but not this specific one. Do you have information about the source of the specific Fellows watch, confirming also that the bezel and hands are not original to it?

To be clear, while I was a bidder I did not win the auction.

Do you have the link at all? I had a dig around the site and couldn't find it - although that could be in part due to my incompetence!

Apologies if I have my wires crossed as there were 2 threads on Milsubs and they both crossed over.
I thought they were one and the same watch.

You must have had mixed emotions when the auction closed. Missed out but your examples have rocketed.

I'm the same was bidding but unfortunately did not win either, but know the purchaser will be happy, as watch was much better in hand than pictures.

Indeed. But what a piece of tat. Vintage gone mad. It self perpetuates.

I had the honour of x-raying a very similar model owned by a Gentleman residing in Southport.

My lottery numbers didn't come up last Saturday, so I had to stop bidding prematurely, but I would happily have gone further.

It was a great watch, and although it was a lot of money (nearly 175k, Fellows cocked up their commission calculations!), it was a steal!!

I didnt know anything about hands/bezel not being original to the watch but even so I thought over 200k was a realistic price.

I wonder if the bezel come from the 300 Omega parts eBay haul some guy made last year that included several Milsub bezels? Be interesting to know where they have ended up..

The hands and bezel are original to the watch ( to the best of anyones knowledge ) .... the poster above got confused regarding the conversation on mwr ... that conversation was about a totally DIFFERENT watch .

Well congratulations to Jedly on winning the auction. I would love to be able to afford something similar. Should he ever wear it, please let him be careful, he has the price of my flat on his wrist - although not the contents. ;)

Ahh right, sorry for the confusion, a lot of money to the average Joe like me but everything original to the watch does make it a very good purchase, like I said before I thought 200k+ was where original Milsubs were priced.

Hopefully a few more turn up now this is all over the press..

Congratulations indeed. Perhaps I should have gone to see it in person before bidding! Fellows seem to be reporting different figures for the total including commission and VAT, which is unfortunate, but either price was a happy one. Look forward to seeing it when you've taken a Brillo pad to the glass :-)

Congrats on the purchase - I look forward to seeing the dial once you've had a chance to clean up the crystal!

I saw the estimate for it was 50k-70k, and immediately thought yeah, and the rest. Not being up on Milsub prices in detail I wasnt expecting it to double the estimate, now I see even that was under the going rate...

    Congrats dude!

Seen that on Instagram, seems there is no ceiling price for top quality watches, great investment for those who own them

    Wow

How much were milsubs selling for 8-10 years ago? My memory isnt the best but Im sure I recall them being much more affordable.

Depends on the watch and condition, but I can tell you that even after the millennium you could still pick up good examples for 5 - 10k. That struck me as patently too cheap even then, knowing how few were made compared with Milgauss 1019 and other collectible models.

Thank you. Ive always liked the looks of them, its a pity theyre unlikely to be available at those prices again.

    Milsubs

I've added milsubs to a long list of 'watches I shouldn't have sold!'

I've found about fifteen of them over the years - you'd think I'd have had the sense to keep one or two, like some others in this thread :)
