Thread: Speedmaster discount

    Speedmaster discount

I’m thinking about getting a moonwatch (hesalite) and wanted to see if anyone had a recent experience of getting one via an AD and what sort of discount could be expected.

Likely to be Goldsmiths due to location convenience.

I’ve also heard rumours of a price increase coming soon?

I am in exactly the same boat and have an appointment with Goldsmiths next week. Apparently they had the Speedy on discount earlier this year, so your chances are good.

On a previous thread, where I was asking advice, one of the posters suggested aiming for a 20% discount as standard.

Regarding the price increase, Omega boutique in London confirmed to me last week that prices are increasing this September (although “not by much”). Hope this helps.

Thanks, that’s good to know. Will try and get in there before September then so that any discount that I can get doesn’t get lost in the price increase!

I would be grateful if you could update us as/when you speak with them. I’ll do the same after my appointment next Wednesday. Good luck

It is worth keeping at eye on your credit cards for any cashback deals ie 5%. But you would have to check terms if online or in store.

Same here. I did get a discount but nowhere near 20% unfortunately.

From experience it might be harder to get much of a discount on big ADs such as Goldsmith...perhaps trying somewhere smaller and more “family owned” might get you more results.

20% seems like a lot (praise to the negotiation skills of those who got that!) - I remember getting mine with 15%.

Would not surprise me an increase on RRP in the following months.

Moonwatch is iconic, it’s an easy sell for ADs especially with finance deals.

Try Swiss watches direct. Advertised price is probably 15% off.

You’ll get full warranty and brand new. I have no direct experience with them but know people who have. They have been discussed on here a number of times.

If you have purchasing history with main retailers goldsmiths/beaverbrooks etc it’s easier to get decent discounts.

I might be able to help with 20%, but would likely have to have my name on the warranty card.

Omega don’t put names on the warranty card? That’s a good offer if you can pull it off for the OP

Tesco clubcard can be converted to 3 x the value to use at Goldsmiths

    Every little helps

I recently got a sizeable reduction on a new Seamaster from Banks Lyon. I was more than happy with the discount and their service.

Prices of used speedmaster professionals seem to have slowly increased. The mod one on sc seems very good value.

I’ve also found dealers reluctant to negotiate. I was given 20% off my FOIS when I bought it in 2019 but have struggled to achieve any meaningful discount on a moonwatch since June (when I finally pulled my finger out).

I think most places seem to be digging their heels in waiting for the price hike.

That’s extremely generous and I very much doubt anybody would beat that unless they were in/connected to the trade. Top man.

Always makes me laugh when some people on here say 20% is the standard discount to expect on a new Omega and then other forum members find that dealers don’t actually throw discount at you like that.

It’s frustrating when you’re buying and forums are telling you of big discounts to expect and then you find the AD barely move on price . 1st thought is what’s wrong with my negotiation skills and then the next thought is I wonder was the nice stranger on the internet exaggerating A bit

When people generalise they forget to mention it’s much easier to get 20% off (or more in some cases) a much less popular model then than a say a moon watch or standard seamaster.

This was exactly my experience last week. I asked for 20% off a Moonwatch and was told “maybe on some models but not a speedmaster”. Ended up getting 8% off in the end, which I was happy with considering there is also a September price increase.
