Didn’t they deduct points for a team fielding an ineligible player once?

The greedy six tried to kill football
I’ve had a think Ben and you’re spot on .
Fifteen points deducted off them all .
    Only City 68 points
    Second City 66 points
    West Ham 62 points
    Everton 59 points .

Jeez the final is like watching Palace vs Burnley. Utter tripe. How on earth Arsenal managed to get knocked out by Villarreal is beyond me. And Man United showed no adventure - Rashford was poor. McTominay and Cavani the only 2 players who did well

Turned on to see who won and saw extra time was starting. Then tuned back in and caught the shoot out.

Someone has to eventually miss one. Not a good thing for De Gea.

I hope Saturday doesn’t go that way....

Shambles. Both keepers were useless and Villarreal deserved winners overall. But Man Utd let the Premier League down big time by putting on a tepid performance. Losing to a team that would be relegation candidates in the Prem is poor form and they showed no adventure.

Did De Gea keep his gloves on to take his penalty?

  6. #1256
Bailly and Lindelof are a liability. Compare them to Albiol and Pau. Poor old Cavani had to keep chasing back to help out. Secure the defence and I think United’s prospects look pretty good.

De Gea not saved a penalty for 5 years. Henderson has saved 8 out of 19 in his career.
Solskjear should have changed the keeper before the spot kicks but he’s to nice a guy for a decision like that, which probably means he shouldn’t be the Man U manager.

I was disappointed the managers didn’t get to take penalties.

Ours have come too Nige .
My daughters by email, mine direct to the passport health app. Both locator forms filled in and accepted. Day 2 test booked , paid for and waiting on our return.
Had to go to Liverpool for the test as all local ones were booked up .
Long day tomorrow but I can relax and look forward to it now.
Just hope both teams perform better than the Thursday Night cup shambles .

Good luck to both teams tonight, I hope it's a decent game and we're not subjected to a bore draw and penalty decider.

Well done Chelsea - fully deserved.

Stirling was totally outclassed by James, in fact the whole Man City team were AWOL. I guess the annual Champions League choke just took a little longer this year.

Ancelotti to Everton looked to be a real coup. I suspect that the likes of Arsenal and Spurs wondered how he ever ended up at Goodson Park and wished they’d appointed him. It’s a very sudden and unexpected departure. If I was an Evertonian, I’d be feeling pretty aggrieved right now. I wouldn’t be happy with Eddie turncoat Howe as his replacement, either. There’s no loyalty in football.

My team won the league by 25 points.
Our rivals, which in fairness will probably be Hibs next season:

Lost their much coveted title and 9 and a half in a row
    Fans attacked their own players
A review into failed manager (who then stays on for ages)
Dubai trip in middle of pandemic, which ended with half the team having to self isolate.
Player flies a bird over from America in the middle of a pandemic, takes fanny fright, she then tells the internet from the bedroom what a tosser he is.
    Manager sacked.
    Captain left.
    CEO forced out.
New top man coming in and being undermined by out going CEO
    No manager for 3 months
Coveted manager says no after months of he's waiting on x y or z before signing
Move on to 2nd choice manager that according to them they have been chasing for months, that nobody has ever heard of and the natives aren’t best pleased with.
DoF that they all wanted to come in tells them to bolt - this was today.
We have now entered the bhanter years.
If Carlsberg done football seasons, this would be it!

Liverpool have spent 18m a season net in the last 5 years.

For comparison city have spent 100m a season in the last 5 and Yernited 76m.

Anyways disappointed for Everton losing Carlo, I think if the fans would have been in the stadium this year especially with the start they had then Everton would have confidently qualified for Europe.

I’m massively disappointed as a good number of my friends are blues and I would have jumped on the European away trips.

Most blues are calling for Duncan to be given the job !

I think most Evertonian's didn't think he would stay long. Wasn't exactly doing his reputation any good. Personally I would go for Benitez, who lives on the Wirral anyway and sod all that he used to be the Liverpool manager. Gerrard no, Lampard no, Martinez (again) no, Moyes (again) no, Big Sam (come Christmas time) definitely no, Sparky Hughes and Alan Pardew no and if they offer the job to Roy Hodgeson I will never watch another Everton game ever again.

We also need a clear out and get rid of the lazy Brazilians. Richarlison is a sulky school kid who goes down in the breeze, Bernard crap, Allan I'm not convinced about.

Big Dunc is a shout, he has fans behind him, is Everton through and through and last time the players wanted to play for him.

In conclusion Big Dunc or Benitez.

There is no pop at City, they have spent 100m a season net the last 5 seasons. It’s just a statement of fact.

I’m certainly not bothered, just made it better when Liverpool and Leicester won the league in the face of the spending.

The spending is good in a way, it’s all trickles down the chain eventually and the smaller clubs eventually get weighed in with a big fee.

I don’t understand the net spend thing. Take KDB for example - his value must be 3 times what was paid for him. It’s not the amount of spend that is a measure. It should be the value of the spend. I think City have generally done well on value with Sergio and David Silva etc. They have also done very badly on a line of defenders. Until they got it right with Dias.

So the BBC reporting Moyes and Nuno as the club’s preferred candidates? I thought Nuno was homesick, and as for Moyes? Surely a backward step for both manager and club. Why would he leave West Ham, although I still think he’s on the sacked by Christmas list :-)

Benitez would be a surprise! How about Zidane!

Any Everton players off to Madrid?!

Eh ? You’re actually comparing your spending with Leicesters ?
    Apologies,
I’d forgotten that VVD, Allison, Oxlade Chamberlain, Shaqiri, Keita , Fabhino, et al were all Liverpool Academy products.

    Eh?

I didn’t realise Leicester were made up of academy players? Even more kudos if that’s true.

(don’t think it is though - 2 or 3 would be a pretty good return for most teams)

If you’re going to indulge in a spot of whataboutism when exactly did Celtic fans attack their own players and stadium? Maybe you’re thinking of the idiots who recently targeted the home of the club’s chief executive?

Leicester have outspent Liverpool net the last 5 seasons you dafty. They average 20m a season against Liverpool’s 18m

It’s not hard to comprehend all this the team that spends the most 9/10 times wins the league.

Evidently that attack was nothing to do with either Rangers or Celtic fans.
Quite a few cars torched that week in Glasgow for some high profile figures.

Benitez would be a surprise! How about Zidane!

Any Everton players off to Madrid?!
I like Nuno and at a club with some (limited) money he could make an impact. Moyes definitely no and he would be a fool to leave West Ham if the new contract is indeed in place as reported. Zidane and Conte wouldn't come to Everton, but I said that about Ancelotti. If the pay is enough we could pinch Pep

Only that’s not true is it ? Or do you need me to furnish you with the details .
Only five times since the inception of the Premier League ( not counting last season) has the top spenders won it

Net spend means absolutely diddly squat . You know it , I know it , most sensible football fans know it . It’s like an emotional crutch you need to cling to .

City, United, Chelsea have spent the most money since the inception of the premier league..........they’ve won 23 of the 29 titles.

It’s not a hard concept to grasp this.
