Expecting better from Everton in the second half, delighted to have a bit of a cushion.

Looks like rampant City will romp home. United dropping too many points, three draws and a loss in January.

When Liverpool got the penalty I thought “here we go again” but cracking response and that final goal from Foden was pretty special.

Still plenty of tough games to come for all concerned though.

I’m thinking of Martial diving at 6-0 .
Besides getting a fellow professional sent off , to then have the bare faced cheek to crack on like nothing has happened is a piss take .

    Yes, it was embarrassing frankly.

And it is prevalent everywhere (even at City). It won't stop unless punishments start being handed out. With the laws and VAR the way they are it's too easy to get a decision and is making for some pathetic behaviour.

    I get that .
    I can (kind of ) accept it in a tight game , but , at 6-0 . Really ?
I still recall City being accused of having no class when we beat Watford by 6 in the FA Cup Final because we didn’t ease up on them .

Nope - Need to back him though, the whole team lack confidence and having a pop at him won’t help.

    City on top form.

My own take on Liverpool this season is that huge sense of relief in getting the monkey off their back has affected their intensity levels. Add that to the lack of a home crowd and that air of invincibility isn’t there. Injuries haven’t helped but that’s part of football. I don’t think Aguero has been on the pitch for more than 60 minutes in PL this season.

I felt for Alisson, wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Form is temporary, class permanent.

I've heard commentators saying Liverpool have injury problems and it's been a disaster since Van Dyke's injuries but Villa beat them 7-2 with Van Dyke playing. Yes, they were complacent and Villa did a superb job on them but the problem seems to be deeper than just injuries.

Re Liverpool, it is really difficult to maintain that level of intensity and focus year after year. Probably winning the CL and the PL in consecutive years has had an effect of 'done that, conquered that mountain' and it is natural that levels may drop. Probably this coincided with City returning to form as last season they were not at the races for possibly the reason I outlined above.

Staying on top is the hard bit - that's why Fergie's achievements are so impressive. Winning when every other team plays at 110% because they are facing the champions - that's super tough.

Klopp is a super coach but he's not quite yet at that Uber-Coach level like Ferguson, Guardiola, Saachi, Lippi, Del Bosque etc where they are serial winners year after year and know how to keep building Title-winning teams. Doesn't mean he won't get to that level but he doesn't have that serial winner experience yet.

Arsenal were poor again, Arteta decision making is very strange at times. Like Lampard I don't think he is ready for such a big job.

There's no goal difference in the FA Cup

Van Dyke seemed to be playing with his slippers on ever since we won the league, he was making odd defensive decision towards the end of the league last season. As bad as the defensive problems have been its needed the midfield to really step up and that has just not happened. Heaping the blame for any mistake on the 2 youngsters who stepped in didnt help either. A few games with Millner in have been terrible especially our lack of pace. Every time we got the ball we pass side to side long enough for the opposing team to get back into position making it impossible to do anything. I have seen Thiago look on in despair when he pops the ball forward only for nobody to make a run to take it on.

Liverpool's defensive midfield cover are playing at Centre Back. City just strolled straight through midfield. Firminho AWOL again.

Ridiculous situation with West Ham yesterday.

In the dying moments of the game Soucek's arm grazed Mitrovich's face and he went down like he had been shot.

VAR looked at it. Mike Dean went to his off field screen to watch the replay. As a result Soucek was sent off.

Now today Soucek's red card has been rescinded.

How can a referee and VAR both watching on replay monitors have given a red when it is later rescinded?

Surely they both couldn't have been wrong?

It was fortunate it was in the dying moments of the game and we didn't have to play with ten men for most of the match.

    A complete joke.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

^^^^ We might have played better with 10 men. Not our best performance this season. Let's hope they are back to near their best for the FA cup tie.

Red card was extremely harsh so good to see it reversed today.

Just popped in to recommend the always-excellent David Squires cartoon strip in today's Guardian. Worth a look for it every Tuesday.

As an aside, I didn't know that Alisson of Liverpool has a brother, also a pro goalkeeper, called Muriel. Dad Sue & mum Gareth must be so proud!

Leeds now on 32 points already, for a promoted team that’s been hit by injuries that’s phenomenal.

So bored with that narrative…. Maddison called it in his interview…. We’ve had plenty of injuries too but they don’t count!

To me Liverpool are following a typical Klopp pattern much like his time at Dortmund they are amazing for 18/24 moths and then Klopp’s tactics just run them into the ground, few injuries and he just can’t remotely figure out a plan B. The inability to tighten the ship is what will cost him this year.

You said he's the best player in the world. Which he isn't. He's a better right back than Walker, I'll give you that.

Cancelo is an excellent player but he's not even the best Portuguese player in Manchester let alone best player in the world.

The fella from Liverpool is pretty decent both have the same ability defensively but Alexander Arnold brings so much more to the table going forward.

Also before he switched Kimmich was arguably better and that’s before you start to think about the others like Pavard and Hakimi

If you are truly honest if Walkers skill set lies in the ability to run fast nothing else, if he didn’t have the ridiculous pace he had he wouldn’t be as “good” as he is. His pace bails him out so many times. A prime example of how losing a little bit of pace impacts a player is Bellerin since the ACL.
