It looks like it could be a Cal. 8531 or older. Never seen one of those dials before thought. Have you got photos of the movement?

After searching the calibre then comparing the images it seems to be an old portofino but there are both manual Winding and automatic versions with what seems the same dial.
I just searched the calibre then looked at image's
You could try contacting IWC with the serial number. They should be able to tell you what version it is.

I can't tell you much about the watch, however, I do know that the number 803A on the inside case back is IWC's reference number for the watch. Perhaps you could try searching by that reference to see if you can get anymore info.
Edited to add, have you tried putting the case and movement numbers into the DateyourIWC facility. It may give you some more info.
