    Best Beater under £100

Been asked to try and find an analogue beater for £100 sport or diver style as a gift.

All suggestions appreciated. I did a search but the most recent one of these questions I could find was back in 2018

    TIA

If you want to go Chinese you can get Steel Dive, Pagani, Parnis all for around the £100 mark if it’s a homage of some sort you’re after.

Non homage the Seiko SNK field watch range, an ani-digi G-Shock (If it has to be analogue, the new Casioak fits the bill) or a Casio Duro. If you shop around you should be able to pick up an Orient Ray II or Mako II for about £100 (I got one on here for £85) and that would be the pick of the bunch; original design, in-house movement and highly durable.

Every summer I always pick up a summer beater and then flip it in the winter. I’ve had year on year

    Seiko SKX
    Casio Duro
    Orient Ray II
    San Martin 62MAS (current)

The SKX used to be a great value beater but they are overpriced now for what they are. The Orients are still good value. The San Martin is excellent but that’s closer to the £200 mark. I had the Casioak and flipped it immediately, found the digital display to be unusable - watch was style over substance which you don’t want in a GShock. Enjoy the hunt!

New, any of the ones mentioned. Used, I'd go for an eco-drive Citizen so you dont even need to worry about changing battery for a few years.

    Best Beater under £100

Some of the Casio Edifice models are hard to beat for the price.

Sapphire and 100m wr for £69.

    or

    Edifice EFV-100D 40mm version

    Edifice EFV-110D 35mm version

Quite a few YouTube videos on the models above. I have the 35mm version and it’s a great watch for the money.

These are now available again for £67.95 included as part of a 12 month subscription to Diver magazine.

The image shows the yellow logo model but I believe it’s now the white logo that is produced.

There is a code for these currently which brings it down to £4 over budget.

That titanium Lorus on sales corner, even at its new price looks like a good candidate. Presumably it has a black dialled stablemate.

Dugena "Divers Friend" is one of those "How do they do it so cheap?" watches - I have the full-lume and it's a terrific watch. Can usually find them on ebay cheaper than direct prices.

There was blue dial version that I had and sold on here about 2 1/2 years ago. Don't think it's available any more as I would possibly buy another one.

I look forward to receiving my prize . It’s a lot of watch for the money. Good choice.
