For marginal ones such as yours, I would agree a figure for the watch only (less than 2500)

Then charge the rest for box and straps

Send separately, actually costs less doing this way

For something £2.5-£3.x K, I have split the head and box/bracelet etc and sent them as 2 RMSD parcels insured.

I am also looking at Secursus which offers higher insurance levels for 0.6% of value combined with various couriers for posting a watch to Europe but also covers the U.K. I believe.

I used Secursus recently to post a watch in the UK.

Easy to do, and as you said 0.6% of the value.

I've use Mailboxes Etc a few times. They arrange the shipping, and third party insurance specific for a watch, up to the value you want. I've used them for a couple of large camera lenses too (when other insurers won't touch anything glass), and they came through perfectly.

From experience, split watch head from box and straps etc and post in 2 packages. When I did this I asked the buyer to pay in two "instalments", one of 2500 stg and another of the balance. Just in case of needing to claim.

I got an indicative quote from them recently but they were charging 3% of value for insurance which I felt was quite high. This was as well as £60 for the uninsured courier to mainland Europe. Total cost would be £120 for a £2000 item.
