That's a quality bodge!
Real watchmakers look away now.
Right,
First a small confession. I didn’t check the battery size before placing the order. There were batteries in my cart, so I assumed they were the ones I intended. Oops.
The watch in question is my 218 Accutron.
It takes a 344 battery - 11.6x3.6mm.
The batteries I bought are 377 6.8x2.6mm.
I already have a strip of these, so presumably they fit SWMBO quartz watches.
As I now have many of these I decided why not try them. They probably have much less capacity - they are significantly smaller in volume, but they are the correct voltage at least.
So out to the garage and 5 mins later return with a round piece of brass 11.6mm with a pocket in it 2.4mm deep and 6.8mm diameter.
The watch runs and so far is keeping time. Guess I’ll see how long it runs for then take a view on getting the proper battery.

That’s not a bodge. It’s a solution to a problem that wasn’t there. So as they say “if it’s not broken you can probably still fix it”.
I looked at the photo before reading. It looked like you had installed a small polishing wheel in the watch. :)
