Hi uys been a traumatic time for My Wife what with My Sister-In-Law's stage 3 cancer which is ongoing however another kick in the teeth Her mother(My Mother-In-Law)started to exhibit strange behaviour Whenever She visits Us She's a bundle of energy but in the last 3 months there's been an incredible decline in Her faculties a slow shuffling walk a marked decrease in her writing clarity getting upset and crying feeling very unsteady on her feet not remembering things and to make matters worse She cannot control Her bowel movements all this has culminated in an emergency appointment at Her GP My Father-In-Law is in denial but hopefully whatever the diagnosis is(Parkinsons looks like the obvious cause)He'll have to really accept She will need special care its not as if She's ancient She's only 78 but its hit My Wife hard sorry to vent but in a way I'm not away flying as My Wife's in bits.

Sorry to hear this, but my 78 year old Mum went downhill rapidly with both dementia like symptoms and in general health and energy. I thought it was the end for her as it was that bad.Originally Posted by Boeingdriver
Turns out it was significant vitamin B12 deficiency plus a urinary tract infection. I’ve attached the thread I raised.
Make sure you’ve pushed your doctor to do a full blood and UTI test.
Here’s hoping it’s something simple like that.

Guys thank You for ll the kind words Mum-In-Law is going to a Specialist GP on Wednesday I'll update the thread thereafter.
I must admit there are other forum contributors got things far worse I've also decided I'm fed up of Commercial flying so I've decided to push the redundancy button.

My OH was cabin crew for a long time and she still has a lot of friends in the industry. I really hope that you get a decent severance package. Unlike what BA are currently offering to their guys. Fingers crossed everything works for you buddy.

Guys thanks for all the warm kind words a quick update regards Mum In Law She is being referred for a CT scan as a matter of urgency so hopefully will be done by middle of coming week the absolute downturn in Her faculties is truly shocking She will start a conversation then halfway through forget What She's talking about.
She's having trouble dressing Herself at the GP assessment He asked Her to count the date backwards She couldn't do it,
tried the same with reciting Her address again failed to carry out that task and lastly Doctor asked Her to count the months backwards starting from January She started with January then jumped to October missing out December and November.
It appears that there are gaps in Her cognitive thought process and She just wants to sleep constantly complete loss of appetite and completely unsteady on Her feet.
We've set up a care assessment for Her to visit Her and see what Her capabilities are I really feel sorry for Her as I have never seen such a deterioration in a Person's condition so quickly.
Probably not the case here, but I've had elderly relatives show similar signs through dehydration. Just a thought.

Ok all tests,scans completed after over a week in hospital My Wife,Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law were called in for the verdict I'm afraid My Mum-In-Law has inoperable cancer I haven't been able to ascertain what was discussed as My Wife's in bits.
So sorry to hear this, life can be dreadfully cruel at times.

Sorry to hear this but honestly 78 is very old actually.
My mother is 73 and she is getting more and more health issues now, i can see the damage age is doing to her all the time.
Aging is very cruel, she used to be stronger than quite alot of so called men these days.

So sorry to hear this Mannu, I know it is extremely taxing.
Hope your Mother in law is kept comfortable preceding the inevitable.
Just had similar with my Mum who was cremated on Monday although she was 90.
