    Sporty white dial suggestions

Never been a fan of white dials until recently - the frankly indecent polar Explorer II pics thread on here a while back changed that - and now I'm in the market for a non-dressy white dial piece. Currently wondering about the white Seamaster 300 (as per https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/om...er-300m-review), along with the Explorer.

Any other obvious candidates I'm overlooking?

I had a yachtmaster 2 in SS which has a white dial. The blue bezel really popped in the sunshine and looked great with the white dial. A lot more money than an EXP2 tho, and it does tend to be a binary piece. I loved it.

The Sinn 104 white dial is a nice piece. Goes well with a lot of straps as well as the bracelet.

Really like the new white Seamaster on black rubber. I had a 42mm Explorer II but found the bezel too delicate.

The white 300m Omega Seamaster Pro you mention - gets my vote. If you want to go wild the white dialled Plo Prof is one to consider.

This is exactly where I've got to on both counts. Explorer II is stunning imo, but bezel, price & availability maybe not so much.

If you are on Facebook Urban Gentry Watch Collective, check out the macro shots of the white dial Omega by Christian Kirkemo (just search "macro"). That should make you want to buy it even more...I've not seen macro shots as good.

Damasko DA37, unlikely you'll bump into someone else wearing one, unlike more common watches. Mine's still looking good at 15yrs old too with it's hardened case, and realistically priced. Bracelet available if so inclined.

Potential cheaper option than an Omega or Exp II.

I would almost watch this on mute as the guy is all over the place (calls it a panda and then a polar) but it gives a really good look of it in natural light.

amazing hair as well. brilliantly enthusiastic though, so I warmed to him in the end. even managed to be positive about the helium escape valve, which is a first.

I know Bremont get a lot of flak but I think the S300 is the watch they have done right - excellent water resistance at 300m, good eligibility, a sensible size at 40mm and not too thick, well-priced after discount, amazing build quality and very flexible in terms of strap options.

    Cartier santos

    The Cartier Santos.

Undoubtedly one of the most classic watches in history and the simple Cartier Roman dial adds a level of real class to this sports watch.

You’ve asked for a sporty watch, so perhaps I’m not answering the question properly, but I have to say that the white (or slightly off-white) dial on Rolex’s Oyster Perpetual 39 is an absolute stunner. Just thought I’d put it out there.

I'd agree it's one to consider, screw down crown, 100 m WR, sporty enough for 99 per cent of the time certainly.

To comment further on the EXP2 bezel, I bought my polar in 2013 and it was my daily wearer for 2 and a half years until the JC arrived. The bezel was perfect, and I did manage to scratch the crystal quite deeply, so I would not regard the bezel as delicate. And the watch is quite versatile for straps. Rubber B looks Amazing, and these aren't bad either -

A good call on the S300, I had a MB2 white dial which was ok but I never really bonded with it. Would like to try a white dial S300 in the future.
One other option, if you are ok with used, the white dial luminors look quite sporty and more discrete than the 47mm tackle. Could be picked up well south of 3k.

Longines Conquest Sport - auto or quartz, 300 m WR. What's not to like?

I’ve always been fond of that Tag especially 41mm auto. Would make a great holiday/ summer watch with a strap that has a hint of orange in it.

If you are partial to microbrands, and a cheaper price point than most of what has featured in the thread so far, then the Hamtun Kraken is worth a look.

The latest iteration (H3), which is currently in production, even has full lume and GMT options.

I have the first generation Kraken (H2) and wear it a lot. Mine has the Sellita SW200-1 movement, which was a few quid more than the NH36a version.

Several reviews on YouTube - here is one of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhg8mDsUUlE

Seiko 6139. Not yet sure if this will survive The Great Cull of 2020.

Not sure you could class it as ‘sporty’ !

Some really interesting watches suggested, thanks guys. Still stuck on Exp II/Seamaster, but surprisingly considering Oyster Perpetual 39, which I have never thought about before. Also the Panerai - just beautiful. Most leftfield suggestion is the Santos, really want to like Cartier but I still don't get it.

The OP39 isn’t sporty, but it’s a beautiful white dialled watch. I love mine!

Another vote for Damasko - they do sporty, bombproof, white-dialled watches better than almost anyone else - and no sneaky extra costs for the hardened case:

If you decide to go down the Rolex route then the white Milgauss might be as good a shout as any. Better proportioned than the modern sports range, imo. And a little funkier, if that's your thing.
