One for the Speedy experts a 68/69 Racing dial

So my Whatsapp goes ping at 8.00am on a Sunday morning

A friend in his 50's and his dad has just produced this out of a draw which he bought new..

looks like a 145.012 - Racing ....hands and bezel change as it should have a DON and red hands

    welcome input and thoughts.

I don't know much about it but the dial certainly isn't original if it's from 1960s with a painted logo. If he's had it from new he will know more about it than anyone on the forum I imagine.

yes Its original they were painted logo on these from research of model number ....gent is in his 80's and bought it new..not a 'wis'.

I was sharing what I thought was a lovely piece and seeing if anyone was an expert on the 145.012's or 145.022's ??

    but thanks for the input..

Darren at Vintage Speedmaster is your man for this, he's also a member on here. Certainly not recent with a tritium dial. What is the start of the serial number?

    Hi Ken

    yep Darren undoubtably the man....

have found a few that have been auctioned but as ever prices vary wildly

going to hopefully meet it in person so I can obtain serial / movement numbers and check all matching and correct to what I think it is..

shame about hand swop as the red hands pretty iconic to piece and hard to find replacements but dial looks to be in excellent order...

    Thanks
    Tim

These 'odd' Speedmasters can be worth serious money, just look at those late 60s Japanese Ultraman with the Orange Chrono24 hand, they are £30k+ these days.

What a find !! Looks crisp ,this will be worth good money . Box and papers ?

not as many racing dials and I suggest a visit to Speedmaster 101 for more info , William can also help with value , if you contact him
