    PRS-82 setting question

Today's daft question. Apologies for asking, but seem to have lost my Google foo.

Does the current PRS-82 have the date setting position, or has it been deactivated? I think I read that it was present in the original NOS ETA2783 model.

    Many thanks!

    Gavin.

The PRS 82, using an ETA 2824 movement, has the date wheel removed but all other date-related parts are present. When the crown moves to the quickset date position nothing will happen when its turned, with no date wheel the characteristic click of the date wheel teeth moving over the date jumper spring will be absent.

To get rid of the quickset date position would require a different setting lever spring with only one notch, possibly the spring from a 2801 hand-wound might fit, but it's a rather pointless change to make.

PRS 82 is an excellent watch in my opinion if you like divers, I recommend the later 2824 movements simply because parts are easier to source.
